This might be a obvious for many but I have a Gen 1 3.6 hybrid inverter and 5.2kWh battery installed back in April this year and I am looking to add another 5.2 battery. I assume this wont be an issue with the hardware I currently have?

martinto8 No issue with hardware although you may find a larger battery isn't that much more after installation. Key thing is to make sure your installer is able to commission the battery on the Givenergy portal for the purposes of it being recognised by the inverter and for the warranty.
martinto8 If you look at the £ per kWh, you’ll find that the bigger batteries give you a much better benefit than the smaller ones.
Also remember that the 5.2kW batteries are only 80% depth of discharge (so you are only really getting 4.2kW capacity) and the warranty has a battery cycle limit, whereas the larger (gen 2) batteries are 100% DoD and unlimited cycles.
Clearly no point in over-buying battery capacity you don’t need but I’d recommend either an 8.2 or 9.5.
