Will solar panels charge battery when AC connection is off?

I have a 5kWh GE battery and 5kW GE hybrid inverter. If I open the AC isolator (between the inverter and dis. board) will the solar panels continue to charge the battery?

Do you have the EPS (emergency power supply) configured? If you don't have the EPS setup then I believe the whole lot shuts down and the battery doesn't get charged if it is disconnected from the mains or there is a power cut. If the EPS is setup then the battery will charge from the PV and power the EPS.

As I recall when the grid was down a few weeks ago to our house the MPPT side of the Hybrid inverter carried on charging the batteries until full of course. The inverter just stopped supplying 240v Ac into the house/grid. I do not have the EPS wired in presently as I have other means of powering the house in the absence of the grid.

Interesting. So presumably the Inverter was able to actually power itself from the battery DC in that scenario.

rjp yes that's what happened when we had a power cut the gen 1 hybrid inverters carried on charging the batteries from solar

No eps

hybrids yes / ac3 no as it doesn't have a direct connection to the solar panels.
