Cards - Smart Tariffs (Octopus)Cloud Portal

Hello,
I've had a search of the forum and can't find an answer and couldn't see anything in the FAQ.
I've been trying to setup the smart tariff card and only get the message about missing data from Octopus. I was wondering if I was setting it up wrong. As they were first in my account I've been using the meter serial number and mpan of my smart meter, should I be using the details for my export meter that the solar installer fitted? On the mobile app I did have a small circle with a £ in it for a short while but that's disappeared again.

Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Chers, Mike....

You need to get your Octopus API into the GivEnergy portal.
Log into Octo and copy your API.
Then go to account settings in GE portal page and add the API in

SteveCook Yes, I've done that but the GE portal also requires meter serial No. and mpan thingy but I'm not sure which ones to use, my smart meter or my export meter?

Mike-H Your MCS meter, fitted by the installer doesn't have an MPAN. Your energy supply meter (from Octopus) had an import MPAN and now it also has an export MPAN. Check that the meter is showing export when you press the buttons on the front?

If you are setting up the smart tariff for import, then it would be the import MPAN. If there's a place for you to also add your export MPAN for export tariff, then happy days.

Tim Ooooh, I thought the export meter had an mpan as well now. Thanks for the info. I think I misunderstood the whole thing, sent Octopus a photo of my MCS meter when they asked and took a reading from it. Probably the wrong ones. I was keen to make sure I was paid for all the exported electricity whilst they were faffing about for months on end setting it all up.

Mike-H In fairness, if you had a FIT tariif, that (MCS meter reading) would be what you send to the FIT tariff supplier. If you've applied for SEG tariff, it'll be your smart meter export register that's the data that is required.

Hello all,

I have a similar question - I already have Octopus Go (Faster) set up on my Smart Tariff card from when the battery was installed in September last year.

I am going to Intelligent Octopus (all being well) from 1st Sep and wondered if the new tariff will automatically sync with the battery or if I have to get the API from Octopus and input it in somewhere? I've looked in Account Settings but can't see where it goes...

Any guidance would be most welcome - I've tried calling GE and so far have only managed to get through to 'reception?'. Each time I tried phoning 'technical help' I was on hold for 25 minutes before giving up.
