Hi,
I have my Givenergy installed yesterday and plan to use it as a back up to the V2H. This enables the Leaf to supply the house and top up with excess solar so basically a large battery. It is set up to draw a small charge from the grid of around 100W, the prevents anything else from taking over and my Eddi/Zappi don't kick in as they don't see any excess.
The batteries are discharging and taking some solar so they are fighting with the V2H and charged up 00:30 - 04:30 but immediately discharged so are empty this morning.
I want the batteries just as a back up with the Leaf isn't at home and the max discharge rate is exceeded then I would expect the Givenergy to take over.
I can't see any options to have a delay as the Eddi/Zappi has this set haven't had to set it so not sure why the Givenergy is acting so quickly, has anyone got a similar set up or any ideas?

Also on the dashboard one battery is showing as 55Ah capacity and one at 102aH capacity. Both same 5.2 bought at the same time.

I'd speak with @anabanet as they have V2G and several AC inverters to see how they manage things.
I think the constant 100W pull needs a rethink / tweak so you don't need to do this.

FYI There is no delay for the GE system, it sees a demand and it tries to fill it.
Simple route is to setup discharge timers so you only discharge the GE batteries at certain times (not sure how fixed your daily life is as to that being an option)
Failing that your going to need to get creative with the API to mess around with discharge power limits.

Banks of timers to do exactly what you want.
We have 3 alternate power sources, one being a V2G from a leaf.

Can you detail exactly what your V2H is and why you call it V2H and not V2G - they are different things and need to be treated differently....

Mal-Givenergy This is likely an installer problem - not having 'set' the barrey by doing the cycle.

anabanet V2H automatically charges 00:30 - 04:30 and all other times supplies the house and soaks up excess solar using a grid clamp, set up to also pull around 100W from the grid to prevent Zappi etc from kicking in.
Givenergy are struggling to set both inverters up together and showing some strange readings.

anabanet V2H is a Nissan Leaf plugged in the charger/inverter and monitors house usage with CT clamp on grid incomer. It load matches and solar matches so provides energy to the house and chargers with excess solar. It’s also set to charge on Go rates. It’s still in development so no control and set up to constantly pull around 100 watts from the grid to prevent other solar diverters seeing any export.

What does the Meters/CT setting do as on e of my inverters was set to 1 Meter and the other was set to 2 Meters, I ma running 2 inverters so have used ID1 & ID2 meter with Grid CT to ID1 and Solar CT to ID2 and these are wired to both inverters.
I was getting strange readings on the inverter data showing constant load as 4334W, I have changed the setting that was set to 2 Meters to 1 meter and seems to reading fine now. The support did mention they were seeing strange readings but why wouldn't they pick up one was set at 2 meters, or should it be set to 2 meters? Both inverters share data from both EM115 meters.

Mal-Givenergy If both EM115 are connected to both inverters, readings are going to be confused as I understand it. Conventionally, each inverter is the Master device on its Modbus, requesting data from the slave devices: Battery Management System and its Grid EM115 meter and Solar EM115 meter if fitted. The inverter controls the flow of PV/battery energy to supply house load and import/export to grid, depending on how it has been set (Eco, Mode 1 etc). If there is more than one master device on the Modbus (two wire connections between the EM115, battery and inverter), the slave devices will respond but this is a recipe for confusion. Are you sure both EM115s are connected to both inverters? If so, that would suggest a single Modbus with two Master devices. Could it be that each inverter has only one of the EM115s, so two separate Modbus (which is my situation)? If you need both inverters to be able to get readings from both grid and solar, I think you need to double up on EM115s, so each inverter has both readings from separate meters. This is just to separate the devices on each inverter's Modbus. Unless you're not only trialling V2H for Nissan, but an Energy Management System for Givenergy!

Tim The drawing for 2 AC coupled shows EM115's wired up in parallel. So you use EM115 ID1 (grid) & ID2 (solar) and remove blue CT clamps from the solar.
The schematic shows both EM115 connected to all inverters.

Mal-Givenergy Mal, You're right! The schematic does show that if you have multiple AC3s, one is configured as the Modbus Master and the other(s) are configured as Modbus slaves. All the EM115s are also slave devices on the same Modbus and all devices on the Modbus should be connected in parallel. I think it'd be easier to understand the schematic if the Modbus connections (although they are shown in a narrower line) were coloured differently from the 240Vac connections.

It suggests to me that the PV inverter on the schematic is not a Givenergy system. You would have thought that if an AC3 can be either a master or slave device, then that would work for the hybrid inverters too but it looks like the firmware assumes the hybrid is always master.

I'm going to assume your the same "Mal" as facebook so something else that may not be helping depending on how your RS485 cabling is routed (potentially next to AC cabling) is that it appears it's all in 1.5mm normal flex cable rather than shielded? (The pic of your connections shows brown & blue cores.)
Probably not the full reason why your struggling but if it's picking up interference it might not be helping either.

hoggy @Mal-Givenergy Most of the advice I've seen regarding remote connection of Modbus is that you should run it over twisted pair (eg Cat 5) to negate any interference issues.

Yes Mal from Facebook, cable installed by electrician. Seems the same as install pics by Givenergy. I'll try and change it for Cat5 cable. Looking at the readings from both inverters one shows good reading for grid and solar and one shows no solar, just small spikes between 0-3watts. I have spoken to support and was told last week they are trying to sort it and update batteries but still the same.
I have emailed a few times, I'm disappointed with the support from Givenergy and the portal doesn't seem to update reliably.

Tim Modbus spec most definitely doesn't say to use cat5 - it says something along the lines of a 1.5pair cable with an impedance of 120ohms. Actually just found this which looks to cover it all. Modbus cable
Having said that cat5e cable is often used - and is included in a mains cable from Doncaster electrical (Think that is the right name)

I have got home and checked my batteries and both dip switches set on 0000 so changed one to 1000 as a slave, support emailed back to set it up as one system so waiting to hear back.
