Wake-up connection ideas?

I have an AC Coupled system Solis inverter with a Gateway and 13.5 AIO. After the app updates the connectivity has improved but seems to drop off about once a week. I try logging in as admin to the two GivEnergy devices and doing a reset under device management (sometimes more than once), disconnect the ethernet cable from the hub (directly wired to the gateway) for 10-20 min and holding the button on the AIO for 5-10 seconds to force a reset but no luck getting it to connect after 19hrs now doing any of those (funnily enough I just dropped a note to support to tell them that connectivity improved only for it to crash a short time after...was letting them know I saw the system drop 20% in one reporting period - 5 min which I haven't seen before but I've seen others post on here about it). Any thoughts on how to get the system to connect again?

DCostura Sometimes, just rebooting your router will help it to dish out IP addresses again. Maybe try that?

Going to reopen this after comment on battery discharge thread.

Do you assign AIO its own IP or does router auto allocate.

I would expect it to auto allocate, but I honestly don't know, I wasn't involved in the installation, the installers had a few goes with GE on the phone but they didn't do anything with router itself that I remember. Seems to work fine for 2 to 4 weeks then disconnects....at this point all I do it poke the power button from time to time and just wait until it decides to turn itself back on....

DCostura

What router do you have?

I tend to get my routers bad or good to self reset (or in the case of my current one forced reset) weekly to just tidy up alternative is trying to see if you can give it a dedicated IP so that you can rule out DHCP.

DreadorUK I got my equipment on a Static IP and I had constant dropouts and they got frequent enough that I was restarting the AIO every day until a comms fix was applied, after that I had not needed to turn the AIO off+on, then just now when ive been having trouble with inverter going idle (narrowed down to it being caused by chair stair lift when it gets upstairs which is odd as all the power points do is charge the batteries in the char) and they reverted me back to current official dongle firmware boom the inverter went off within 1-2 days and then it was reapplied and its been fine since.

Definitely something funky going on with the firmware/software on the dongle.

Well, some combination of resetting the router, turning the AIO on/off did the trick, just back online, took about an hour looking back at the post times. I have a BT home hub, fairly newish (probably in the last year or two). I also have a Nibe heat pump that has been rock solid connected to the hub for over a year which is a benchmark

Well, upgraded to v8 and now I simply can't get the system to wake up despite all the ideas, its been 3 days running and absolutely nothing will get it back online.

DCostura does it show as LOST in the portal? Can you see the GW and AIO in your router if you login and look at the connected devices?

treborUK the Gateway shows as Idle and seems to be sharing data back to the portal as it actually lists a time stamp if I look under system data, the AIO shows as offline and 'no data' at all. I've tried all the tricks that people posted previously to wake it up (resetting the router, holding in the power button to push a reset, disconnecting the ethernet cable from the router etc) to no avail, now over 4 days disconnected. I went into the hub manager and it does show a device connected and live on the port connected to the Gateway, but only 1 device

Yeah GW always shows as Idle.
Could it be issue with Ethernet cable? Can you swap the cables for GW and AIO ? See if the AIO shows online after cable swap and shutdown / restart

They really need to sort out the lost comms issue, its definitely dongle software related.

If you connect to the AIO's access point can you still browse the internet and whatnot, if so contact support and ask for the comms fix for the dongle after you manage to get it back online.

Typically for me ive had to power it down from the breaker in the gateway if removing/inserting lan cable into router failed to provide any results and then just pressing power button on side of AIO failed to produce any results.

Jellybaby Good test idea, I connected to the AIO wirelessly and then tried to load the BBC site and it came up just fine so it looks like it's connected to the internet? Just doesn't want to talk to GE (which at this point I'm not blaming it 🙂 )

I think I had issues with my AC3 loosing it's connection as my mobile phone tried to connect to the inverter hotspot.

I told my phone to forget that WiFi network and I never had any further problems with it.

Perhaps just a coincidence, but worth considering.

Once I told the phone to forget that network (but before disconnecting from it!) I also rebooted the dongle to make sure it was in the right mode, ready to serve the internet up to the inverter.

DCostura yeah thats teh same with me, ask Dragon if he can load the comms fix on dongle for ya if you manage to get it online.

Well, perseverance, after pushing the reset button a few times a day for a week, it magically came back to life

DCostura WOOP WOOP If you are on the GE Facebook Group try and ask there for the comms fix firmware, might get quicker response.

GivEnergy Battery and EVC Owners

Seems to be one I see them frequently in.

Well, another week, and another lost connection... almost like clockwork....
