Hello all, newbie here (albeit, had 2x 5.2kw batteries, inverter & 7.2kw array installed May 2021). Should you charge the batteries to 100%? I have an EV on order & reading up on them they seem to advise to only charge up to 80% for the majority of time & 100% for long journeys. Maybe the battery chemistry etc differs?

Flat Top The system will charge to the maximum to keep them safe - in the case of the 5.2kW batteries that will be 80% of its full capacity.

This article explains it - but note it doesn't apply to the current 8.2kWh batteries as they are defined as 100% DOD - which means they are actually about 10kWh!

Thank you for your reply. Forgive my ignorance, so when we check the app & the battery charge = 100% it will actually be 95%?

Flat Top think of it like this 100% is 100% of the capacity available to you. The 5.2 battery is 80% DOD so each battery gives you 4.16kw. So when the app says 100% charge you get the full 4.16kw, or 8.32kw for you as you have 2.
