Can anyone explain why we keep getting the above message please?

It seems to happen in the early hours of the morning (around 03.00am) so we import from the grid rather than using what's in the battery and this has happened three times in the last 7 days.

Any suggestions gratefully received.....

Hi,
I had a similar error once. I have a Giv HY5 gen 2 inverter and a 8.2kWh battery. There should be a post by me on this topic somewhere around here.

Following my installers' instructions I checked my CU board, and the RCD had tripped. I reset it and there hasn't been an issue since. The technician's explanation was that the excess humidity/rain has caused the RCD to trip.

Your issues seems more regular/common than mine, and also you did not specify how you get out of it. Does it go away by itself?

If it sorts itself, could just be a loose connection.

Call your installer back maybe?

Sounds like the link from the inverter to the EM115 in the consumer unit. It's either a simple data cable (in which case I'd check connections first) or a radio link (Black aerial with magnetic base and springy bit in the middle at each end).

If it's a Gen 2 inverter I'd check the RJ45 meter connection to the inverter. Sparkys don't always have experience in making reliable connections with these..

rio911 - it does sort itself out but this can take several hours - last night for example the connection failed around 03.00 and didn't restore until about 08.30.

I will take a look at @rjp solution and see if that helps (I also did a battery firmware update today in the hope that this might solve the problem)

lisap66 If it disappears on its own, it is more likely a loose connection.

You need to have your installer look at it, otherwise I would suggest you shut the whole system down before doing anything else!!!!

This might be a bug? I had one this morning at 2AM. Not had that error since install day in December 2020!
Nothing touched around the inverter for years.

Twin AC3 inverters inplant mode. They 'share' the two EM115s. Frequent comms errors - each lasting a couple of minutes. I'm convinced that it's caused by bus clashes on Modbus - there should only be one bus Master. No confirmation or denial from Giv. Portal data is garbage - all I do now is to look at the Octopus 'energy statement' each month.
