Another semi-decent day for PV was forecast yesterday but unlike the last time there was a lot of cloud cover around so thought I would have another look and see how well the battery, inverter and PV coped with variable loads and generation throughout the day.

First reading from the Smart meter at 0845 was 4.2kwh import and the total for the day was 4.594kwh.

2 loads of washing, 1 dishwasher cycle, various cups of tea, toaster, microwave etc, 1.8kwh into the hot water, 6.6kwh into the car, 1 kwh exported and 3.71kwh into the battery from the PV. Battery had 3.29kwh from the grid overnight and the grid provided household load from 0030 to 0435 due to my current charge settings.

I know I busted my combined battery and PV output a couple of times but looking at the Eddi data trace is was running for nearly the entire days PV generation so it gives an idea of the constantly changing PV output due to the weather.

394wh or 9p total use over a day of high transient loads, car charging etc coupled with very variable PV shows that the system as whole is actually performing very well, especially as not all of that is due to system lag.

The power graph for the day shows a grid import peak of -1385w over the monitoring period at one point demonstrating that 'snapshot' data is less than ideal when trying to understand system performance.

Good to know. I am seeing an average export of around 0.5kwh over the day, where the battery doesn't catch up fast enough as the sun come out from behind a cloud and the PV ramps upto 4kw+.

Once we hit May, PV will be pushing 6kw+ peak if not a bit more. May, Jun-Jul last year saw peaks of 50kwh a day. Way way over what I can store or use or divert to the how water. So will expect some export then.
