Can someone tell me where i am going wrong. My system got switched on on Thursday & i set the batteries to charge to 80% overnight but on both occasions they fully charged to 100%. Am i missing something in the settings to change?

I've had the same problem since installation 2 months ago.
I reset to factory settings but it makes no difference.
My settings:
Inverter>Settings>Eco>Enabled
Inverter>Settings>Timed Charge>Enabled
Inverter>Settings>Timed Charge>Start Time 23:30 - 05.30
Inverter>Settings>Time Charge>Charge to %>50%
Timed Discharge, Timed Export both disabled
Battery Options>Operating Range>Reserve 4% Usable 96%
Battery Options>Operating Range>Charge Power - Maximum 3600 W
Battery Options>Operating Range>Discharge Power - Maximum 3600 W
I have tried a number of different configurations of settings but none solve the problem.
Did you add a tariff card to the web portal homepage?
If so, click the stop automations button on it (if you want to control it using the settings on the MyInverter page instead).

That sounds hopeful. It feels like it is something blocking my settings.
I did not add a Tariff Card knowingly to the web portal homepage. However, somewhere along the line I did input my Tariff (Intelligent Octopus).
I have searched the web portal homepage, my account settings but cannot locate this data item or the stop automations button. I'd be most grateful if you could tell me where it is. In the mean time Ill keep looking.
Right, I have found it. For me, it was on the GivApp.
I have stopped automations for Import.
I have also stopped them for Export - Im on Octopus SEG. I guess that is the right thing to do.
I will report how I get on.
Can I just say that this site is marvellous. Really good to talk to people who know how the system works.
The problem remains sadly.
Last night the battery charged to 100% at the start of the cheap period.
Worse still it then protected the 100% by meeting all load demands from the grid.
TX200 suggestion still seems to be on the right track. I’ve tried a number of different settings now without success and it feels as though something is stopping them working.
Is it possible to reset the system from the mother ship?
Speedy yes still having the same problems here & also last night battery fully drained & recharged after 4:30am & had BMS over voltage notifications on the inverter page

Fortunately my discharge recharge problems seem to be less severe. Nevertheless frustrating.
As my problems are persisting I have emailed support to see if they can help. No reply yet. You might consider doing the same?

"I have had my Giv Inverter & Battery system for two months.
I cannot get the Battery charge percentage feature to work. I wish to only charge my battery up to a percentage during my cheap period. The Inverter Settings appear to offer this, with a % slider.
I can make the battery charge during the set period, but it always charges to 100%. This means that I have an over full battery the next morning and I export a lot more than I would wish.
To aggravate the issue the battery is maintained at 100% by the system meeting overnight load from the grid.
I have tried many combinations and permutations of settings to no avail. I have asked the nice and clever people in the Community for advice but no solution yet.
Is it possible that some rogue setting is preventing the functionality from working? It may even have arisen during installation. Either way can you reset my system from the mother ship? I’d be willing to try anything."
The reply was:
"This is a known firmware bug currently, it will be resolved in the next version. one work around is to limit the charge power on the battery options so it charges slower over the period of timwe"
That settles my problem. Your problem seems more complex. You might try the email route to support@givenergy.co.uk.

Speedy thanks for the info. I emailed them over the weekend & apparently the BMS issue is also a bug they are looking into.
So all we need to do is sit back and wait for the next version ......
Speedy If you setup home assistant then you can write automation scripts to control the battery yourself. That’s what I have done. I do a force discharge in the peak evening to take advantage of the flux peak period payments, but stop discharge when the SoC gets down to a configurable %. You can’t do this with the app/portal.
I have another script that keeps spare capacity in the battery during the Octopus power up events, switches rate of charge to zero % when the SoC reaches a preset limit.
With a bit of adaption sounds like these would do what you are looking for.
Speedy not sure which known bug is being referenced, but plenty of us are charging to a set percentage overnight without issue. If you don't have the appetite for a full Home Assistant setup, the same overnight charge function is also available in standalone code from www.github.com/salewis38/palm
