New Wi-fi

Hi, we have had a new internet installed and my system is not connected. I have no data on my dashboard, can anyone help please.

I just moved my inverters over to a new mesh wifi yesterday. One thing I found was that the inverters would not connect if I had the 5GHz wifi on as well as the 2.4GHz (same SSID). Once I turned off the 5GHz it connected straight away and I could turn the 5GHz back on afterwards.

Some routers allow you to set up two Wifi networks, and if you can do so, set up one for 'normal' use which is present on 2.4 and 5GHz, and another which is only present on 2.4GHz. This latter one can be used by any device that lacks 5GHz ability, such as some smart plugs.

Just switching off 5GHz works, but means your Wifi use for laptops, mobiles etc will be curtailed because the 2.4GHz band is usually crowded and in any case has less capacity than 5GHz.

[Having two networks doesn't automatically mean you have to set up two lots of IPs or have to target devices to specific wireless networks etc - it is just about SSIDs etc.]

rivimey I echo this - and I have all my IoT devices on the 2.4GHz band only so I can monitor them and it doesn't clutter the 5GHz band for phones, pc/laptop, TV and games consoles.
