I have noticed that my gateway does not start to accept input from the PV (via Solax 5kw string inverter), until the Solax supplies at least 200W. This seems to waste at least half an hour early morning, when the PV string inverter is long awake and exporting, but not accepted by the Gateway.
Does anyone know if this is a set parameter, or can the wake up / trigger load be adjusted down?
GaryS I get the same on my Solax 3.6 string inverter with the AIO, PV comes to life and dies at 200
Jellybaby Mine would only die at about 100W Solax output, although the GE app display for PV would not show less than 200W.. When the PV output drops below 100W, it actually goes to 0. So I think the main issue is the startup 200W that wastes those precious first rays when our batteries are near depleted.
Just to add more evidence I see a similar behaviour with my SolaX 3.6 and AIO too. Haven't mapped the exact power that it cuts in/out at but will maybe take a look knowing that it's happening for others.
Would be interesting to hear experiences of folk with different inverters.
Off-topic: but knowing you're both on SolaX inverter with an AIO (@GaryS/@Jellybaby) - have either of you tested whether your SolaX inverter continues to charge the battery when the Gateway/grid goes down (simulated by manually tripping the DNO breaker into the house.) My SolaX inverter just sits in a Grid Fault mode, where others have said their (non-SolaX) inverters actually continue to charge/power the house.)
JTG I have tested this, the Solax feed continues and the power stays on in EPS, with continued feed from the string inverter to the Gateway.
I have a little niggle with some RCBOs tripping when I am in off grid mode, but that is a seperate issue my sparky will figure out.
JTG I am afraid I do not want to manually test this.

Jellybaby Haha... well your installer should have tested it anyway when commissioning.
Apart from the manual flicking of the mains circuit breakter, there is also a tab in the REMOTE CONTROL page on the Portal for Force Off Grid. GE even advertises that you can set your system offgrid from remote by using this button.

Just want to bump this by saying I also get this 200w minimum issue on the gateway (3.68kW Solis Inverter). Super irritating as all the reports and graphs are forever wrong.
What I don't understand is why the meters in the gateway aren't recording it. I get there could be an issue/bug with the Energy logging and the graphs. But aren't the meters a physical thing and if you open the door on the gateway it does show the PV on the meter, the software just isn't logging it. Seems strange.
gbleeds The portal data on the Power Graphs for the AIO is totally useless. About a 30% underread, and some days the graphs just go upside down.
After a month I am disappointed by this company, and will not touch any of their products again. Time the Youtubers who keep singing their praises online, get clear and honest and tell the truth too!
GaryS I had one day that it was 47% underrated on PV and that is BEFORE taking into account all the generation missing from the <200w.
And you've hit the nail on the head, YouTubers singing their praises was one of the strongest pushes I had to go for GivEnergy, I think if all the problems weren't a thing it would have been the perfect (or near) system.
gbleeds they’re not all positive on YouTube. Nigel on The EV puzzle was quite critical about many aspects of the ac coupled one he tested about 18 months ago
But I still went with my installers recommendation of GivEnergy because of the portal, the automation options and the price.
Generally I’m happy with it, it does what it should do. My only real unhappiness is that i cant self add extra batteries I have to pay my installer
YouTube should flag up if it includes paid promotion or not and you can take from that what you will as to any bias. (I don't know if they did or not for the ones you've watched, I tend to pay youtube little attention anyway)
If not then another key indicator would be to see if it was published before the product had a full release.
As always, marketing will favour those likely to give the more positive experiences. There was actually a car reviewer yesterday who had their (as yet unreleased) new Honda EV taken back off them early, ending his road test, for some less than favourable initial comments about it on twitter!
