Can anyone confirm that is on the EON Next Drive tariff that they are have successfully signed up to EON Next Export Exclusive rate of 16.5p/kWh for electricity exported from their GE system. I ask this question, because some suppliers will not offer their high export rates if you are able to export from a battery.

These are the EON Next Drive Fixed Tariff V1 (No exit Fee) for East Midlands:

The export rate seems too good to be true hence why I thought there might be catch.
anthonypar Export rate is 1.5p/kWh more than they paid me a couple of months ago so no reason to disbelieve it.
I am an e.on next customer on TOU tariff and have my SEG with them too. I can confirm I get 16.5p per kWh on export. So as far as I am concerned the rate is not a myth but a fact.
Thanks for the confirmation. My only concern now is EONs poor customer service.
anthonypar They are not the best at cust service for sure and sometimes to get something they need to be pestered and talking to a person is sometimes a long wait on the phone. They are not as good as Octopus but not as bad as British Gas.
One thing about the SEG for Eonnext supply customers is that they do not allow/like what they call "brown" exports i.e. charging your battery at night on the cheap tariff and dumping it to the grid during peak tariff times to make a profit.
I am going to stick with them until I get my SEG cheque next year and see what I do from there and what's on offer then.
It's why we are dumping eon for octopus (20p/kwh export rate)
We moved in Sept 22... old house was Eon, new house was Eon... they screwed up the move, failed to transfer anything, tried billing for the old house. Failed to transfer the fixed rate deal we were still on. Took 2 months to sort out before they finally got it sorted...
But STILL screwed up by stating the the new house wasn't the actual address... so billing from old house 'For new new address' as if it was a 2nd home or something.
Meanwhile, the poor people who bought the old house... kept getting refused transfer of the FIT payments by eon, who told them I quote 'That sounds like it's a bit dodgy'. It's been 12 months and we still don't know if they've got it done yet. They hadn't back at the end of July.
It's not just 'poor' customer service... it's a systemic incompetence that runs throughout the entire company and not one single person is willing to actually deal with an issue until it gets to a few days before the time limit for a complaint runs out and you can escalate to the regulator.
That's not poor customer services... it's encouraged incompetence to increase profits.
killythebid Like you I was originally with EON and stayed with their Next Flex rate and added Next Export exclusive to benefit from their higher export rate. When I read the T&Cs I assumed that as per SEG Export Payments they would use my export to offset my bill. It now seems that they are unable to read my Smart Meter for Export so I now have read my own meter and send them the readings and they will send me a payment up to 4 times a year, though on the phone I was told I would only be sent payment once a year. I have queried all of this but EON are silent!
This all became apparent when I asked about the over night cheap rate. I can't have that either as my Smart meter isn't Smart enough!
Has this been the case with anyone else?
Digger I had an 18 month battle with eon to get my smart meter working.
It seems eon have no way to change a smart meter from single to dual rate and have to replace the smart meter with a dumb meter and then a new smart meter.
When I finally got it all sorted, got the customer service goodwill payment for all the **-ups I then moved to octopus who have been much better.
Oh, and Eon ignore your emails, mind you so do Octopus. Best route I’ve found is messaging them via twitter
I have been quoted £157 to change meter. Not worth it. I will see how EON perform over the next months. I have used facebook to contact EON in the past. I've had a bit of success with this. The problem I have found is during a conversation you can get passed from one person to another and they all start by repeatedly asking the same question and not looking back to the beginning.
Reading this stuff, I think I'll just buy a second-hand bike -no wheels, and pedal hard to obtain the required elecricity!

My experience with Eon customer service was abysmal.
I liked the look of Next Drive as it was 7 hours at cheap night rate as opposed to Octopus 4 hours. (we did not qualify for Intelligent as we had the wrong type of EV). I was aware that after signing up to next Drive you have to wait on their flux tariff while they check your smart meter is OK, so I wanted to know if it was possible I'd leave octopus only to find I cannot get on Eon's tariff. (wrong car, wrong smart meter, wrong trousers -who knows?)
Rang up the number quoted to discuss the Next Drive Tariff (for domestic customers).
- Wait 7 mins for an answer and was told they will transfer me through to the correct department.
- 5 minutes later the "correct department" picked up and told me they are the wrong department as they are business and would transfer me to the "correct department."
- Another wait (9 minutes) to be connected to the "correct department" but this just seemed to be the first "correct department" which was still the wrong department.
- So they then tried again to connect me to the "correct department."
- After about 8 minutes the line cut off.
I rang back and got through to Paul, who was still not the "correct department," however he was able to answer my question about whether we would qualify for the tariff saying that if Octopus were happy with us on their Go tariff, then there would be no problem with Eon. I was a bit apprehensive about that so I asked if I could have that in writing and he gave me the email for the next Drive team who could confirm for me.
So finally I did get a sort of reasonably helpful answer and I now know to ask for Paul in future.
I have been with eon next since 2021 then in June sign export tarrif. Have to send them all papers from instalation including drawing of my setup including battery. They accepted and requested picture of meter with export reading. They send me confirmation with 16.5p/kwh. But billing is once per year. So its a long way to find out will they pay you. Yo qualify for 16.5p export tariff you need to be eon next customer. So when my contract ended on September I have sign new one eon next drive. And now I charge my home battery at night for 9.5p and export solar excess for 16.5p. And I will be doing that all year. Cheaper than charging from solar. Even cheaper if you take to consideration efficiency at 80% whole system. They didn't check do I have ev. My word was enough for them.
Why calling them? I don't like to call as my English it's not quite right. They have online form where you fill all necessary boxes then attach all documents and that's it. No waiting on phone.
You can request payment every 3 months provided you supply a photo of the meter export reading. That's what I do.
Digger I did ask for it right after i open account. This is their response:
"Hello,
Thank you for your email.
We can allow quarterly payments as long as the payments are of a fixed amount via a direct debit."
So yes but not based on your export readings.
And this is no good for me.
HipHopAst From the EON web site:, (also clause 6.6 of their SEG agreement.) Suggest that you follow Digger's advice. However, I did see something when I was looking for the detail recently which specified in: March - June - September - December.
"How often will I receive SEG payments?
We usually pay annually from the start date of your E.ON SEG plan. But, you can request to be paid more frequently - up to 4 times a year. (Remember to send us a photo of your meter reading before each payment.)"

I've had a mare with E.ON, SEG was the final straw, I was promised SEG backdated to my E.ON install date in July, then there was a vacuum. After weeks of chasing I was told they don't back date SEG when they set up the SEG account, I left it at that and was going to move to Octopus. Then out of the blue I got a series of emails confirming the SEG account was setup, I asked if they back dated the SEG and they said if I sent them a photo of my meter they would send me a cheque, I got that this week so I didn't lose all of the export as originally thought.
E.ON have some really good customer service folks, it's just getting the right one, they also give out conflicting information.
SilverArt Yes i know that from website but in reality their respond was not what you expected.
From what i can understand from their email they will pay 4 times a year by direct debit but fixed amount not based on your actual meter reading. Once a year they will ask for meter reading and then they will adjust payment. I could be wrong as English its not my native language.
HipHopAst After Dec. 1st I would advise you to take a picture of your smart meter Displaying the EXPORT reading, make sure that the picture is clear and shows a full view of the front of the meter. Then email EON including the picture at:
Subject A/C YOUR ACCOUNT No. - SEG payment
Hi.
Please find attached a picture of my EXPORT Meter reading taken this morning.
As it has been over three months since I last received a SEG payment I would be grateful if you would bring my SEG account up to date and send me a cheque for the amount due.
Many thanks
Kind regards
Your Name
HipHopAst My SEG payment was based on my actual export and by cheque. It seems to be very hit and miss depending who you contact. Before I finally got my SEG payment sorted I had several variations of what the contract states. I think EON staff training needs to be updated.
