Documents post solar and battery installation

Hoping some people can advise of the documents (mcs etc) that we need from the installer of a solar system and an AC battery post install.

kram You should get an MCS handover pack that includes diagrams of the setup, the kit installed, warranty periods, etc.

Also you should have the DNO approval letter issued before the kit was installed, this details the kit planned and any export restrictions.

geoffreycoan You don't need prior approval from the DNO for a G98, only for a G99. G98 notifications are done after install.

It’s been such a saga but already seen a g99 offer direct from the DNO. Will double check with them.

Vestas True, depends on the size of the array and battery. Up to 16A 3.68kW you can do a G98 small scale approval after installation.
I assumed if you were having solar or battery then it’d be a bigger size which would need a G99 or G100 approval prior to installation.
I had a G100 but no export restrictions imposed

I got installed last Friday. Before install I had an email from my DNO confirming it was approved (I am a G99 install). Post-install my installer sent me a zip file with the MCS cert, diagram, warranty details etc.

I filled in the form on Octopus on Monday to start export. They just needed the MCS number then they found the approval themselves. They also needed an upload of the G99 application. To be safe, I also emailed them the DNS letter.

Yesterday (Wednesday) I checked my Octopus account and saw they had my export MPAN already, and were processing it. I’m hopeful that I may actually start earning soon.

PianSom that’s excellent if they have got the export MPAN already. It took nearly 2 months to get my export setup, some of it was a delay due to my having FIT and having to get my deemed export payments stopped, but a lot of it was delays between my DNO (UK Power Networks) and Octopus. Apparently with all the solar applications there’s a big backlog with the DNO’s

Once my export MPAN was allocated it was all done within a week or so. You will have to take a starting export meter reading number and supply a photo of it

I seem to have been very lucky with at least this part of my AIO and Gateway. Installer issued the MCS certificate on completion, and filed the G99 with UKPN via their online system. I got the export MPAN from UKPN by email within 2 days. Then added everything to Octopus via their website, and have Outgoing Fixed up and running collecting my export data and showing on the Octopus app 2 days later.
At least this part went smoothly for me.

Did your Octopus main screen look like this before you went live?

I'm hoping it will change status tomorrow, but am slightly concerned by this "cooling off period" nonsense.

PianSom The cooling off is just a regulatory nonsense they have to comply with for any change of provider. You will go live tomorrow as promised.

And it has gone live, just as you predicted. Meter picture requested and sent this morning.

From AIO installation on Friday, Octopus application on Monday to live exporting on Saturday - not bad!

I switched from Flexible Octopus to Octopus Flux and the import changed almost immediately but the export annoyingly has the cooling off period and the same message as above. So I can't get paid for exports for a few days. Not sure why it counts as a change of supplier as it is a new installation.
