Those of you using Solcast, how accurate are your forecasts on cloudy days?

I get that forecasting cloud cover is complicated, however my actual generated kWh is often less than 60% of the forecast on cloudy days. Wondering if this is common or something related to my setup/mppt performance at lower levels.

Arg0t I’d say mine is not bad. Sometimes under, sometimes over on cloudy days.

It’s worth looking at not just the ‘median’ prediction that solcast gives but also the 10% forecast which is the 1 in 10 worst case prediction. As we’re getting into less sunny days I’m seeing a lot more variation between the two. Am using predbat with a 10% weighting to the 10% forecast rather than just relying on the median being true

geoffreycoan that's the way to go. SmartTarget and PALM also uses a hybrid forecast, not the 50% values
