I've got dual battery / inverter setup, and I've found that when the batteries are running the house, 1 battery discharges more than twice the speed of the other. Is there any way to fix this within givenergy, or do I need to use something like home assistant with some balancing software?
Pootle home assistant can work. GE are bringing out an EMS box to manage multiple inverters and the data anomalies in the near future (already in beta)
Pootle are the batteries the same size or different?
I’ve got two inverters and batteries and they do discharge at different rates. The two inverters have no knowledge of each other and will not always perfectly share the load. Usually they’re within 10% of each other.
Doesn’t cause any problems working like this, not needed to balance them
geoffreycoan same sized batteries and the difference in discharge rates is about 1:2.2, so 1 battery os flat and the other still has > 50% charge. I am using homeassistant with a balancer and that keeps them in step now.
Pootle that’s strange that they are so far out of alignment, it would make me suspect a poor CT clamp connection or something like that that’s causing the batteries to be inbalanced.
Double check the charge and discharge rates are the same on both?
If you’ve got HA doing the rebalance and that works for you, then great. I did try using predbat for bringing mine into balance but decided that I didn’t like the side effects. The rebalancing was done by setting the charge or discharge rate on one inverter to zero to let the other inverter “catch-up”
So when charging from solar it wouldn’t charge as quickly as one inverter wouldn’t be charge some of the time, and when discharging one inverter was stopped and I’d be getting more grid imports. I have gen 1 inverters so 2.6kW limits. Turning on the kettle or the oven will draw more than a single inverter load so having both inverters is a good solution for me.
