i`m trying to get my system to preferentially power the house but not discharge to the grid after charging up the battery at night (night time tarrif). however the system is just discharging to the grid when i use the "timed discharge" function. Is my system faulty or am i missing something? Can this function be used inconjunction with the eco function?
TonyAbse set it to eco, AND timed charge. During the timed charge period the grid will supply house and charge battery. Outside timed charge, the eco function supplies house.

so settings are eco enabled and timed charge ,set at 23.00 to 05.00 and the battery is currently charging from the grid at 5.45, somethings not right
may be a problem going past midnight?

My gen 3 inverter has 10 charge slots and 10 discharge slots. Not sure why I would need more than two though. I think the app only allows one of each.
nophead there’s new functionality com8ng for extra charge and discharge slots apparently but not there yet, eg inverters May support it but not the app/portal
ok,thought i had this sorted but my settings don´t hold, i´ve set to timmed charge to get the cheap night tarrif and timed discharge to cover the peak tarrif. but the discharge settings change to export on or eco on and discharge off! anyone have any ideas @Givenergy
TonyAbse you shouldn’t need to set a timed discharge in the peak, the Eco mode will automatically feed what your house needs. Only set a timed discharge if you want to drain the battery down and get paid for the export in the peak period (eg octopus flux)
unfortunately if i leave it on eco theres not enough battery left to cover the peak rate from 5pm to 7 pm as it would be powering the house all day by then.
timed export drains the battery to the grid , no octoplus flux in ireland. geoffreycoan
TonyAbse can you explain what it is you want the battery to do at different parts of the day and we can suggest what settings you need and whether its possible or not
sure, i want the battery to fully charge at night between 23.00 and 8.00am. i want the battery to discharge to power the house from 16.00 to 23.00 or fully discharge which ever happens first. Between 8.00am and 16.00 the battery doesn´t need to do anything.
Between 8.00 am and 16.00 the panels can power the house or export to the grid if there´s enough sun,
this is only required between october and march as during the other months eco mod is sufficient as theres loads of energy available from the sun to power the house , keep the battery at 100% and export to the grid.

TonyAbse Unfortunately it is extremely difficult due to the lack of a decent program facility. However, you do possibly have a one way that may help?
1) Set ECO mode
2) Set Timed Charge to start during 'Night Time' rate.
3) Set the end of Timed Charge to the time you want to start to allow it to be used.
e.g Night rate - Midnight to 7am - Day Rate 7am to 5pm - Peak Rate 5pm to 7pm.....
Timed Charge to start at Midnight and end at 5pm .
That will force charge overnight, hold the battery at 100% 'til 5pm and then allow it to be used by ECO
You could possibly minimise cost a little by:
1) Set the Start timed charge to 7am minus the time it would take to fully charge the battery from 'empty' That way you use ECO/cheap rate until charge start time, meaning battery would be used if anything left in it.
2) If you know that you don't use much between say 3pm and 5pm and 2hrs hours then with no solar would still last you 'til the end of peak time it would allow ECO to work a little earlier benefitting you when it is sunny.
TonyAbse You don't say which inverter you have, but with the AIO there is an option in Inverters -> Remote Control to pause charge/discharge/both to a schedule.
I pause charge from 05:30 to 19:00 so that all my solar is exported.
I also have the pause charge/discharge function on my Gen 2 Hybrid. It is available on the cloud portal....enter inverter settings via the wheel icon and scroll down to the bottom.

GIV-HY3.6 probably 1st gen as its almost 3 years old.
On the AIO when I had issues key was to reset to default first.
Let that take so wait 5 mins
Then set timed discharge 23:30 to 5:30 (you mention 5:00 but if you do that then house will take from battery when your grid is still cheap assuming your on Octopus IG)
Default should of set eco on and discharge and export should be disabled if not do that aswell
Works for me having over two days as such in one setting
