Does anyone else have serious Wifi issues? It took the electricians hours of repeating the same process over and over before it eventually connected to our wifi. It frequently drops and won't reconnect unless I reset the wireless AP. After the last connection drop, I've now got two EOP range extenders within 3 metres of it, one in the same room and one in the room above, and it's been trying to connect for nearly two hours and failing. I've tried resetting everything and removing and re-adding the dongle.

Does anyone else have similar issues? The electricians were saying the commissioning process is usually awful because of the wifi. This shouldn't be this difficult!

Do the extenders support 2.6Ghz ?

I think most dongles don't support the newer 5Ghz WiFi channels. Might be some really new ones that do, not 100% sure.

Also there may be some settings that need changing on the mesh if it's a mesh system. Search this forum for other topics about the same issue, hopefully you'll find the info.

TX200 Assuming you mean 2.4Ghz - yes they support both frequencies.

WillC have you separated your bands out or do you have one SSID that covers both bands? If so, these need to be split (preferably with different SSIDs) and then turn off band steering as well.

For example I have NETWORK on the 2.4Ghz band for all IoT devices including my inverter, and then NETWORK-5G for things like phones, laptops and TVs which usually need a faster speed.

Cdent They're both on the same SSID - maybe this is the issue, although all other devices seem to work ok.

I've gone down the factory reset route and set everything up from scratch and it's now reconnected. It was picking up 4 different access points in the garage at >50%.

have you tried checking your router / access point log files?. it should give you an indication as to why it keeps dropping out. Also check settings in the AP.

WillC that could be the issue - the older dongles only work with 2.5Ghz, and when you have the same SSID over both bands the router uses something called band steering to try and get you on the best signal, not necessarily thinking about whether a device is capable of using a certain bad or not. So it'll try and connect to the 5Ghz, fail and then it drops off. Modern tech can often handle both bands, but the GE dongle is either ancient or cheap (I'd say the latter based on my experience with other IoT devices only liking 2.4Ghz)

Name the networks slightly differently, or add 5G at the end of the 5Ghz and then try to reconnect only to the 2.4Ghz SSID, should find it more stable.

WillC as @Cdent says this is probably your issue. If you can’t set them to different ssid then turn off 5GHz and the inverter should connect ok. Once connected you can turn 5GHz back on.

I had precisely this issue and fixed it following that method. The inverters don’t like Fast roaming on mesh Wi-Fi, as soon as I turn it on the inverters disconnect. Plenty of other posts on this forum about these “features”
