Alexa and Givenergy smart plugs

Can you turn your smart plugs on and off with the Alexa skill as I have searched and cannot find them.

If you can and if you have linked the givenergy skill to Alexa you would probably have to say "alexa ask givenergy to turn on "switchname"

The plugs cannot be found in Alexa I don't think they are smart I have just tried that command and it says the device name cannot be found

Then the givenergy alexa skill doesn't have the required information. One would assume they would be hoping to add that at some point.

The weirdest thing happened this morning Alexa suddenly said 4 new devices were discovered, and the plugs are now showing up. I have not made any changes since last week, so not sure if it was some sort of upgrade to the app etc.

Are the givenergy smart plugs compatible with IFTTT?

Don’t see it in any documentation so assume not.

DouglasCollinson no they're not, only Alexa or the GE app at the mo. Not sure if they can be picked up through Home Assistant though

Cdent I don’t think they can be picked up through home assistant or givtcp.

Part of the reason why I bought the local bytes Tasmota ones that work great in HA

you actually can add the givenergy ones in home assistant.. its a little convoluted but you need the 'local tuya' integration - the ip address of the plug and the 'local key' from the More information settings in the giveenergy app

michaelmcgoldrick I didn't know that. I gave up on local Tuya as it didn't have the same sensor monitor and setting capabilities as the cloud Tuya (plus it was a pain to setup)
I've got a Tuya alarm in my workshop and a few smart plugs that I wanted to integrate with HA.

I'd prefer to be all local but I couldn't set the alarm mode, only with the cloud Tuya so decided that I wouldn't buy any more Tuya after this. Good to know that the givenergy plugs can work this way
