Anybody else having trouble with the mobile app, was working fine earlier but on both my android and ios device its just showing home screen and in settings there is no option to search for inverter etc etc but its still on the network and the portal is still updating fine.

Its loading tariff data fine though

Jellybaby yup same issue here

S
#3 Shizbazki

Same here

J
#4 JamesTTT

Also blank for me. The cloud portal login is working. I've tried reinstalling the app but same issue.

J
#5 JamesTTT

JamesTTT also restarted my inverter just in case

G
#6 GaryS

Same here. Someone turned off the wrong light switch at the Givenergy office it seems.

#7 PhilTheGeek

Yep happening on my iPhone too with identical screen

On iPad get different symptoms. I see the whole chart and Home/Away buttons but, from either mode, app says Offline with a last updated time of about when I last used my iPad yesterday

#8 PhilTheGeek

JamesTTT Thanks. I was on the verge of doing this too

#9 Pete UK

Yep. Same here. Same screen.

G
#10 geoffreycoan

Working fine for me on my iPad. Home and away modes

P
#11 Pandorian

App not working here. Portal is OK. GivTCP is OK. Must be services for the App.

T
#12 Tomzo

Us too on both iPad and iPhone

#13 IvanF

Not working here on Android either

Android not working...

K
#15 KKT

Jellybaby yep same here and on the web too. Must be a server issue.

What version are you using as the app isn’t working properly with GivEnergy app v3.3.0 on 2x iPadOS 17.0.3 nor iOS 17.0.3.

G
#17 geoffreycoan

KWcomm I’m on the same GivEnergy app v3.3.0 on iPad and iPhone and my iPhone is also working fine , getting live data from local and the cloud

iOS 17.0.3

If you have an iPad/iPhone the “inverter” app is useful to have. Black icon, reads directly from the inverter data

#18 RichardF

Jellybaby Yep us too. Web portal fine, Android screen same as yours.

Yes i.m having the same problem. The inverter and battery are working but the home dash board is not working. Any idea when this will be working again??

G
#20 GaryS

L175226 Someone at Givenergy will probably realise on Monday that the app is broken... then keep stumm for a month.

J
#21 JK

Same here. This worries me. I thought the app would run independent from GiveEnergy servers. What happens in the case of a power cut, if the internet is down, or there is a cyber attack?
I want a system that can run off grid if needed!

#22 Andy C

Same here, on Android ....

B
#23 barneyowl

Same here. V3.3.1 on Android phone...

G
#24 GaryS

Don't worry, fellas. We are facing a wet grey and dark day anyway, so we won't have much solar data to stare at anyway. Maybe GE have decided to protect us against our obsessive starting at solar generation data. It is for our own good, taking away our toys.

M
#25 Md101

Same here, been like this since last night, same screen on Android v 3.3.1.5064.

Web portal is ok and battery took timed charge over night as programmed.

T
#26 Toucando

Same here on Android

Hello, yes all the Android apps in my house are just showing a blank screen (save for a lonely little house in the middle)

I need to manually charge my battery before my rate changes. Anyone know how to do that fron the Clud web pages??

T

JK buy yourself a raspberry pi, or a low power pc (second hand dell wise), or even just an existing computer that you can turn on when you need to do something.

If you go for the Pi option, install home assistant and GivTCP as per speak to the geek YouTube videos.

You can then monitor and control the system without needing a broadband connection, as long as WiFi is up, or wired ethernet ideally (especially at the Pi end), you'll be fine.

Or if going for a computer, probably looking at GivTCP in docker, but there are other options too.

That's how I started off, GivTCP in docker and just ran commands via a web browser to tell it to fetch battery details or other data. I think some of this is covered on the unofficial wiki - there's a sticky post somewhere about that (or search for wiki).

I've since upgraded to the Pi with an SSD connected and home assistant running. It's great! It can be a little addictive though. 😁

T
#29 TX200

lawton go to the My Inverter web page, then scroll across to settings. Then look for timed charge on the other scrolly thing.

There's also battery options if you want to adjust charge speeds.

J
#30 JamesTTT

lawton I did it. It's a bit painful. Go into my invertor and then the settings cog.

You need to set 3 or 4 things.
Firstly set the AC charge 1 start time. (taking account of BST which my invertor ignores), then the arrow to "send" the settings
Then set the AC charge 1 end time
Then the AC charge battery upper limit % (I set mine to 100)
Finally set AC charge enable to ON

You can use the left hand boxes on all these songs to READ what got written, to check it took your settings.

J
#31 JamesTTT

JamesTTT just seen the reply above . Much easier than how I've been doing it.

U
#32 Ultima357

Same here on both Android phone and Tablet.

M
#33 Md101

lawton

Log on to the web portal.
Select My Inverter, then select the cog icon to go to settings.
Scroll down and update the following fields:
AC charge upper limit %
AC Charge 1 Start Time
AC Charge 1 End Time

You might also want to see whether the on/off options near the AC charge upper limit % are similar to mine.

Screenshot shows mine set to charge by solar (if any sun!) otherwise it will force charge battery to 85% between 2:15 - 4:15 each morning.

#34 hoggy

Its the Carbon Intensity API - it's down and weirdly the GE app doesn't handle that gracefully.
GE app > Settings cog > carbon intensity toggle off and it'll spring into life.

#35 PianSom

Just me, it seems - but the iOS app is working just fine here this morning.

M
#36 Md101

hoggy Thanks Hoggy, sorted. 😎

P
#37 Pandorian

TX200 I think the point here is that an App with 'Local' control should have no need to contact an external server as during a power cut the server link is severed.

Yes, it can be done by other means (GivTCP), but should a user have to do this particularly when the big selling point of an AIO is the ability to power the home in a power cut.

D
#38 DEF

hoggy yep thanks, great fix!

#39 hoggy

Pandorian the app still checks you are the valid owner of the inverter before it switches to local - it does this via the cloud currently.
Not really sure why the inverter serial isn't cached and local mode checks the inverter directly to compare the two serials but here we are.

J
#40 J@L

Toggled carbon intensity to off, everything came back. nice one Hoggy, thanks.

G
#41 GaryS

hoggy You are a genius, hoggy!!!! We will keep you!

#42 hoggy

Not taking the glory on it, I run a site using Carbon Intensity API myself and noticed it had fallen over in the night so have common headaches this morning
One of the GE Devs on FB mentioned it (Sam Driver) as a quick fix.

Sorry new to all of this. I've tried hoggy's instructions but my app still does not want to work on Android.

Found it on the app

Wonder if Škoda use the same service as their servers are down too this morning. Mind you that seems to be a common problem. If a group the size of VW can’t keep their servers up what hope does anyone have!

Having said that I have a server I use for my website and I’ve had about 3 outages in 5years - lasting a few minutes and the odd planned outage. So it can be done!

Jellybaby yes we have the same issue. Have deleted app and reinstalled but it’s still the same

S
#55 steveroberts1

I have my battery on pause because of a problem but want to unpause it as the sun has come out but the app is not working. Can this be done on the portal.

T
#56 TX200

Pandorian yes , fully agree, but I’m giving you community suggestions- which is better than nothing!

T
#57 TX200

steveroberts1 yes, read higher up in this thread.

S
#58 steveroberts1

TX200 I still can’t see how to unpause

JK
Same here, my android app blank.
The very reason I went to HA.
My system, sitting on my server(raspberry pi) in my house (no need for internet) or other peoples servers

J
#60 JKSimmons

Not working on my iPhone app. Working fine on the portal for me

I
#61 Iguana

Have installed the Woodside onto the phone as a home page, looks ok and gets me pest the app issues.

T
#62 TX200

steveroberts1 from the settings area, reset to defaults, then eco mode on if not already, then setup the timed charge again if you need that (e.g. if you have cheap electric overnight)

Or if brave go into the remote control area as also mentioned above. From there is is just make sure enable eco mode is on and I think enable dc discharge on too. And maybe check battery discharge power isn’t zero or very low. Likewise same for battery charge power.

Installed GivEnergy a few months ago and this is my first problem with anything. Pop on here for the first time and the community provides the solution! So app all working as normal again, so thanks all around for the people here helping everyone. Give me confidence moving forward.
Still delighted with my solar/battery journey and after only 3 months another 3 friends and family have followed due to seeing everything working first hand.
Thanks all.

L
#68 Lab140

Turn carbon intensity off and the app will work again. It appears ESO are having an issue and the app falls over if it can't get that data

N
#69 neilrichards

Lab140 how do I do this

C
#70 Chriskrix

Yes, same issue here. The web version seems OK.

G
#71 Gervais

hoggy - THANK YOU - had the same issue - good workaround!

Installed my GE unit about 4 weeks ago overall love it but had been in the dark about this community page! glad have just found it as think the community have an answer to my other query on how to set multiple charging times for Economy 7 meter/tariff - looks like the answer is in this thread also 👏

C
#72 Chriskrix

Turned carbon intensity off - all OK Thanks for solution.

L
#73 Lab140

Lab140 press the one cog you can see ( top middle on the right ) and turn it off

G
#75 geoffreycoan

Would explain why the app is working fine for me but not others, I don’t have the carbon intensity showing.

BTW the “inverter” app I mentioned earlier for iPad and iPhone also enables you to switch mode to charging, discharging, normal etc. direct IP connection to the inverter so no GE cloud required

A
#76 Anomnomnomaly

The portal/app came back online a little while ago... but it's not updating with any data after 8am only reporting live data. So I'm expecting at least a 2-3hr gap today, maybe more.
