we've been setting the battery to charge overnight between 2-5am to take advantage of the lower prices, but for reasons i don't understand, the charging rate has been topping out at 1.18kwh, rather than the usual 2.4kwh we tend to get with solar.
Its been puzzling us why the battery was only half full in the morning, when i expect it to be nearer 3/4s full.
Any idea why the charging rate is drawing a lower rating at a time when the grid should be under less strain?
lightningad what battery/inverter do you have. Some batteries are limited to 50% of capacity, so a 2.6kWh battery limited to 1.3kW/5.2kWh battery limited to 2.6kW.
Otherwise check your settings to make sure there's no limit set on the charging rate - don't use the app, go to the portal, then My Inverter, click on remote control at the top (cog icon) and then check in there
Cdent I see on my gen 1 hybrids that they charge from AC at 2.42kW not the 2.6 they are supposed to get to. Charge rate set to 2600.
Dunno why. Both HA and the GivEnergy app say the same figure
geoffreycoan will there be losses converting from AC to DC? That could account for the difference
Cdent yes there definitely will be losses in the conversion; I’d just assumed that since it’s marketed as 2600w charge rate I’d get that - so the rate would be quoted after losses.
