Help with Timed Discharge

I am trying to use Timed Discharge for my battery so that it covers the house consumption from 1600 onwards to cover the evening peak (I am on Octopus Flux) and beyond.

In the app under Discharge Mode - Scheduled there is a setting called Home Demand (and an alternative called Full Export). Even though I have selected Home Demand I see the battery dump at full power with lots spilling to the grid, i.e. like Full Export.

In the web interface I don't even see the option to switch between Home Demand and Full Export.

Has anyone managed to successfully use Timed Discharge to cover home use only (no export to grid)?

Hi, so this is one of my grips with the timings and a default setting outside of the times window. See my other posts.

However to answer your question, if you think about the settings in this section is what your battery will do all the time outside the times Setting.

If you set home demand, the battery will supply the home until the time you set, then discharge to grid. if you set full export the battery will sit idle all day until the time you set then discharge to the grid.

Thanks. So does that mean that there is no way to keep the battery idle all day and then from 1600 set it to behave as if "Dynamic", i.e. meet the requirement of the home?

27MayoRoad you could just set a timed charge to start at 0130 (or whatever time cheap rate starts) and finish at 1600 hrs

With eco mode on and no timed discharge or export set.

Might end up exporting a bit of solar instead of using that to fill the battery.

Could set a charge to % to leave room, and I assume the solar would continue to charge the battery beyond the percentage, not 100% sure.

Or you could set the discharge rate to 0kW but that would be manual (unless you are willing to get your hands dirty with automation stuff like home assistant).

No I don’t believe this is possible, if the battery is discharging to the grid it can not support the home as well. However the math will do it for you. E.g if your home is using 1 kWh and you are exporting 3 kWH you will get paid for 2 kWh. If you have solar, that will support your home so may cover the 1 kWh, if solar is producing more this will go to grid as well as supporting the home.

27MayoRoad Eco/dynamic mode is either on or off, I don't know any an inbuilt schedule for this.

You could do this with GivTCP together with Home Assistant or some other supervisor capable of using GivTCP REST interface. Simply enable/disable Eco/dynamic mode at your convenience.

Daveb01 if you are exporting 3kWh, you should get paid for 3kWh.

Unless you meant DISCHARGING 3kWh using 1kWh in the home and exporting the rest aka 2kWh?
