I've just bought a Giv-Bat 9.5kWh battery, which advertised a "100% depth of discharge for full usable capacity", but I notice that there seems to be a minimum reserve of 4% that you don't appear to able to go below.

Is there a 100% usability?

Can you set the reserve to 0%, and if so how? And is this advisable / recommended?

Niceguy you can’t set the reserve below 4% although you can set it higher

The 100% refers to there actually being more than 9.5kW in the box. Some is hidden away so that there’s spare capacity for future battery degradation and so that the battery can be kept in the (I think) 10-80% charge range which is what the battery prefers, and you still get 9.5kW

But you generally can’t use the last 4% sorry

Thanks Geoffrey. I knew that the battery was actually larger than 9.5kWh so as to provide 9.5kWh usable, but I thought they would have sized it to allow for the advertised 100% usability, i.e. building in the bottom reserve at the same time as the top headroom.
