I have a 5.2KW battery with a 3.6kw hybrid inverter and a 6.6KW solar system I think it is, installed. My system was installed in Feb and has worked pretty well until today.

I am waiting on my installer to get back to me but since the update notices on the cloud, my battery has been tripping the breaker. I am just wondering if this has anything to do with the update or just a coincidence?

TheDragon (GivEnergy) I am waiting on my installer getting back to me, it has been running fine for over a month. I don't want to open anything up and be open to breach of warranty.

thought i'd see if anyone else had this today.

Mike11 Are you sure you have the 3.6kw inverter and 6.6kw of panels? The max supported panels on the 3.6kw is 4.5kw. Something is a miss.....

It would depend on the panel setup - my installation is about 7.8kw worth of panels total but split between two sides of the roof so the peak output shouldn't (quite) top the inverter capacity. A 6.6kw split similarly wouldn't exceed 4kw max output I would imagine. At the height of the day with the sun on both sets or panels it might spike the load a bit but I would expect the inverter to clip the output at that point rather than tripping the mains.

Yea, they go through a solar edge inverter that is 3.68kw max I guess this is to satisfy the DNO easier. i wish we knew as we would have gone with a bigger inverter and asked the DNO if we could. It does clip the peak as I can see on the graph for the givenergy cloud.

I asked at the time of install and they said the solaredge inverter can take that.

Hmm I currently have 7kw on a east west split and seen 5kw+ in august. But mine is split over 2 inverters so mines fine. Though if your panels are split 3.3kw East West then ok. Just seems unnecessary stress for the inverter. But obviously having an inverter capped at 3.68kw means no G98 or G99 whichever it is (I can't remember) application.

I do wonder if we might see some easing of the regs to make it easier for people to fit larger rigs and thus output more to the grid - given the energy crunch there are obvious benefits though I don't know what the practical challenges are (presumably issues ensuring that substations can handle the load etc).

MRich It is all limited by your local grid operator. How much power the system can take flowing the other direction. Like wind farms being turned off because the connections to the grid are not ready or the next step in the chain is not ready. As more people use more energy and the grid gets upgrades then yes I would expect the default 3.68kw limit to be raised.
