Dear All,
Web portal and app showing my warranty as 5 year but I believe its should be 12 years for both, Inverter and Battery, as per GivEnergy website. Anyone else have/had similar issue and advice on how to get this updated correctly?

what kit have you got.
My Gen1 Hy 5.0 was 5 year warranty extended to 10 year with payment within 60 days.
9.5kWhr battery warranty not shown on portal but default 12 years
Just drop GE an email to their support@givenergy.co.uk email, they will update the warrantee period. No issues, mine is now set to 12yrs for the AIO and Gateway.
Hello,
I have just downloaded the data sheets for the Giv-Batt5.2 and GivEnergy 3.6 Gen 3 inverter so that I could send them to a friend who is considering installing a solar panel system. These are the items I had installed on July 20th 2023 and have worked as advertised since then. When reading the data sheets I note that the battery now has a warranty period of 12 years up from 10 and also that the inverter warranty period has gone from 5 to 12 years. This is a concern to me as I paid £100 to extend my warranty from 5 to 10 years.
My question is this, do my battery and inverter now have a 12 year warranty? And what recourse do I have to be refunded my extended warranty costs.
There reply was as follows.
Hi David George,
The 12 year warranty is now basic for system installed on/after 11/09/23. simply because we have changed the way people can go through RMA's with us.
as for your friend if they were to have a system off of us, she would qualify for the 12 year, however your installation date would deter wether or not you qualified for the extended warranty, if it does we can amend that for you
I feel rather cheated having paid out for an extended warrant that if I had it Installed less than 2 months later would qualify for the 12 year standard warranty even though the items could have been manufactured on the same day.
Hi sorry I didn't make it clear. The first part of my post was sent the GivEnergy at the end of October as a friend of mine asked what I had installed. the second part is their reply. I did ask what RAM's were but that didn't get answered.
Thank you for that.
I did receive a further email from GivEnergy which I forgot to attach
It is totally understandable that you feel this way, however there has to be a cut-off period for the extended warranty as we cant simply give everyone access to the extended warranty as it would further complicate the processes between us, the wholesaler and the installers by proxy.
It was better to leave everyone who had already payed for the extended warranty on the warranty they payed for so there was complete transparency and no lack of communication
I still feel miffed
If you buy a tin of beans at the supermarket yesterday for £1 and I buy one for 50p today, it's just tough luck. Tesco aren't going to refund everyone who has bought beans before that day.
Yes I know. But there it is I will just have to move on. It's not the end of the world
