9.5 Battery - What Daily Discharge (kWh)?

I wonder if anyone with a 9.5 battery could help.

By way of background, I’ve had a bit of a patchy start with GE. The first 9.5 battery started by only discharging about 5kWh for 100% charge, and then when the capacity was fixed, it wouldn’t charge properly (it would get to 70% and drop to a trickle charge). This was eventually RMA’d for a new battery.

The AC coupled inverter had the wrong settings and kept cutting out with a grid voltage fault. This was fixed eventually.

I just mentioned the above because it’s left me a bit nervous with the GE equipment.

The replacement battery was commissioned on Thursday. It took about 9.5kW to fully calibrate. This was a bit of a warning sign as I think it’s supposed to take about 12kW to fill.

Today it has discharged from 100% to 5% for 7.9kWh. That’s not right is it? I reckon I’m missing about 1kWh. Can anyone with a 9.5 let me know what they get for a full discharge from 100% to 5%?

Someone must be working at GE or something else has gone on. A short while after I posted, the battery %age increased from 5% to 8% over 5 minutes and started discharging again.

It’s back at 5% for 8.2kWh discharge now.

My 5.3kWh battery magically recovers some charge after it has cut out at 5%. It might recover to 7% and then run the house for 40 minutes down to 5% and that might repeat again an hour later.

Probably the firmware doing an OCV. The battery goes idle once it hits 4% (the bottom threshold) and the firmware starts to check the true SoC. It then realises that the true SoC is 8%. Then the battery starts to supply house load again until it hits a (true) 4% again.

Zakalwe I think perhaps the battery actually recovers charge when the load is disconnected due to some chemical effect or perhaps due to a temperature effect.

nophead no, as above it's an OCV adjustment. Open circuit voltage. Another way of checking percentage capacity left.
It does this if it's been idle (less than 2A load I think), and is under a certain percentage, and has been idle (as per above definition) for at least 30 minutes.

But why does it repeat two or three times. Getting a substantial part of a kWh.

nophead it smooths it out. Big jumps look suspicious. People are less likely to notice a few smaller adjustments. Well, non techies.

It could also be that as it's a new battery, it's full potential will only show when it's cycled a few times.
