Newbie requiring help.

I have solar panels
I have batteries
I have EV with charger point
In the GivEnergy App settings
If I set battery charge to solar only, then yes that’s what you get. Ok fine.
If I set battery charge to solar and grid and you get that if you set it for all day it appears you get both (but I don’t want from the grid all day)
So I set battery charge to solar and grid with scheduled to match cheap grid price (but in hours of darkness). So in effect I only get grid charging to battery as all solar generation goes back to grid and not to battery.

How do you get it to charge the battery at cheap generation hours from the grid AND for solar during hours of daylight ( I want to set grid to 00:30-04:30 and solar for the rest of the day).

Am I being a numpty. It must be possible but I can’t see it.

Eco mode will let the system charge from solar and discharge to the house when required.

Add a timed charge for the overnight grid charge (set the start time, end time and required percentage to be at - at the end time).

Don't use timed discharge or timed export as they get messy if you don't understand them and/or don't use external automation to get around a few issues with those modes. Search the forum for timed discharge to see such discussions. Search the forum for home Assistant or GivTCP or python or WonderWatt or palm for information on automation platforms).

Running on grid power 00.30 to 04.30 and charging the battery

04.30 to sunrise - using cheap battery power

Sunrise to sunset - generated more than I used so solar recharged battery to 100%

Sunset to midnight - running on battery power

Import rate almost exclusively 9p/kWh

In a perfect world I wouldn’t have fully charged overnight to reduce export but when I’m importing at 9p and exporting at 8p it’s not worth the risk.

All this was achieved by setting a timed charge 00.30 to 04.30 and having eco mode enabled
