Can't stop my battery charging to 100%

Hi everyone, I'm a new solar/battery user. I have an All-in-one battery and the Gateway. The Givenergy system is connected to a 4 kW array on the roof and a Solis inverter. I have tried using both the iPhone app and the software on my laptop but I do not seem to be able to stop the battery from charging to 100% when I use the cheap rate electricity overnight. I can alter the time that the battery charges but when I set the maximum charge to 80% it still keeps charging to 100%. What am I doing wrong? It is a bit frustrating because I would like a bit of spare capacity when the weather is sunny and I can use the solar to top-up the battery. Any help or advice would be welcome.

BillPerkins what tariff are you on? Or do you also run Home Assistant and have GivTCP installed?

Some people on Octopus Go find that the GE portal charges to 100% overnight if they input their tariff in - go to the GE Portal and check Smart Tariff automations, change to off.

If you have Home Assistant w/ GivTCP, check the Smart Target is not set, again this will automate a charge in the winter months.

Otherwise, reset to default in the app/portal on the Settings screen, make sure Eco is on then reset your timed charge & percentage

Cdent Hi, Our tariff is Octopus Flux but at the moment we only have the import set up (waiting for the MPAN and Octopus to sort out the export). There is no tariff set in the app. Once I have the info from Octopus I will change the tariff in the GE app and see if that helps. We don't use Home Assistant. Thanks for the advice. Bill.

BillPerkins I had the same problem with my system after installation (3.6kw Gen3 inverter and twin 5.2 batteries), GE diagnosed it as a Firmware problem on the inverter, they kicked off a remote update to version D0.305-A0.305 and now all good!

I set my max to 80% and 'solar/grid' charging for a set period of time. It will stick to that unless the solar is stronger than consumption, if it is, then it can go up to 100% THEN exports rather than starting to export at 80.1% which I think makes sense. (It would be good to have more flex to set an actual max ceiling which triggers export (let's say 90%) if you're trying to not completely top up the battery to keep maximum life), otherwise it stays at 80% within the time period I set for charging. Not sure if that's similar to what you're seeing or not....

DCostura I know what you mean, I don't see any easy way of doing that via the GE portal, the %batt setting is only for the timed import charge, solar input ignores that and keeps charging until full and then exports. The only potential work around I could see would be to set the battery reserve to 80% and then turn on the timed export thus sending anything over 80% to the grid during that time window. It's a bit 'hands-on' though and not something i've tried.

Make sure to only change the AC Charge upper %-age to what you want and leave the AC Charge 1 Upper SOC limit to 100%. You find this in the Remote Control settings of the inverter on the GE Cloud controls.
