Octopus Flux and GicEnergy

Hey everyone,

Just hoping I can save you all some time. I have recently moved to Flux and was naively expecting the GivEnergy app to pull down the data and provide some automations so that I can get the best of my new tariff. Sadly this is the case, despite what the marketing pages suggest.

If you want to charge your battery over night, you’ll have to setup a schedule, and that’s that. I have reached out to GivEnergy support, and they have replied saying that they do not have a time-frame for when these automations might be available.

Does anyone have any other suggestion or experience in using other tools to facilitate this as an automaton?

Try the scheduler in Octopus R&D.
You will have to register for free - takes about 24hrs for all menu options to appear.

Mandrews I'm hoping to move onto Flux soon. Can you not just use Timed Charge on GivEnergy settings? / Solar+Grid in the app? Or does it not work that great?

Mandrews I use Home Assistant with BatPred installed, does all the forecasting and charging for me at the lowest rates

I use Octopus Flux and just set a timed charge 2-5am through the portal. Not sure what other automations you might need, but that does it for me.

@Mandrews octopus r&d will give you more sophisticated scheduling of your charge and discharge

But as pacemaker says if you just want a single overnight charge you can use the GivEnergy portal or app to set this up. Only other thing you might want is a timed discharge in the evening peak if you’ve got enough stored energy to see you through to the morning off peak then export a little to get the extra export income

That’s what I did on flux before moving to home assistant and batpred as Cdent has. Batpred will automate all this for you, taking account of home demand, forecast solar and the different price rates
