Hi, this is my first winter with solar panel installation and thus far have been charging the battery via the solar panels. I've recently tried to force the battery to charge via cheap electricity at night, however, setting the times do not seem to initiate charging. Any thoughts/ideas on what I need to do to charge the battery from 02.00 - 05.00 every morning would be appreciated. Thanks, Ian
Force charge the battery
Portal > 'My Inverter' > 'Settings'
ECO - Enabled
Timed Charge > Enabled & Set Start & Stoo Time amd charge to % if you want.
Timed Discharge & Timed Export - Both Disabled.
Battery Options - Probably both set to maximum, leave as is until you know its working, or just change the 'Charge power' to Battery / 3 e.g. 5.2 battery = about 1700w
If you've been playing with any of the settings it is probably worth selecting 'Reset to Defaults' and leaving it for ten minutes before you set any of them. Make sure the request is accepted, you get a little pop up.
You don't say what battery / inverter you have so on a be kind to the battery/inverter basis you can set the charge power to match the battery more closely for that period it keeps everything as bit cooler.

On the mobile app if you go to settings, check the charge mode is Solar + Grid.
I’ve not been able to locate this setting on the web portal anywhere yet

Don’t know if it’s just me - but if I set a timed charge on the app for 00:30 - 04:30 when my electricity is cheap (I’m on Octopus Go) it works fine - UNTIL I open the web dashboard and then it resets itself to 13:30 - 15:30 as the charge window. It’s really irritating.

Abdul if you go to My Inverter on the left menu, then Settings and make sure Eco mode is on and set/enable a timed charge that does the same as Solar + Grid in the app

I’m aware of that - and the dashboard mirrors what I have set in the app (timed charge 00:30-04:30) - and yet it still resets to 13:30-15:30.
26Left Has it got itself confused? I'd suggest in the Portal:
'Inverter' > 'Settings' > 'Reset To Defaults' > Submit. - Make sure you get a positive response.
Leave it for ten minutes - then in the Portal:
'Inverter' > 'Settings' - make sure ECO is enabled
'Timed Charge' > 'Enabled' > Set Times and 'Charge To Percent' > Click 'Submit' Make sure it acknowledges OK
If not 'Submit' again after a couple of minutes.
From experience don't try to rush it!
On the portal, if you go to the inverter, then click the remote-control icon in the top right, you get a view of the registers, but in addition at the bottom there's a log of changes that have been applied via the API. Is there anything shown in there ? This can't record changes that have been made locally through modbus, such as with some Home Assistant integrations.
(Can someone confirm that changes made by Octopus R&D, for example, show up in the log ?)

Wonderwatt now manages to moderate the 'Charge rate' in cheap time so that it charges the battery to the required % over the whole of the specified charge window, and then returns the 'Charge Rate' to maximum for the daytime. Something I don't have to worry about now. Whoopee!
