Has anybody with a Gen 3 3.6Kw (GIV-HY3.6) inverter and a 9.5 kWh Gen 2 Li-Ion battery attempted this update?
I was on 3013 and had to have a technician come out 3 times to reset the battery definition back to Li-Ion from acid-lead, each time a day later the system reverted that back to acid-lead. That caused the whole system to crash. Eventually GE pulled the 3013 and was put on 3012. Since then the problem disappeared (somewhere in September).
I'm reluctant to install this firmware update until at least hear from a few people with this battery that it went well for them. Tx in advance to drop a pos / neg confirmation on the forum !
3015 Inverter firmware update with 9.5 Gen 2 Li-Ion battery - anybody?
JMA I've got two HY3.6 gen 2 each with a 9.5Kw battery. One battery was on 3007 and I updated it to 3015 with no problem other than the calibration took a while longer than I expected but looks good. The other was on 3013 and the firmware update went like clockwork. So both now on 3015 and running fine.

I updated my 9.5kw givenergy battery, from 3013 to 3015 and my battery is now shutting down. And showing lead acid too and the battery showing 6.4kw. I’m now waiting on givenergy to sort! Whilst it costs me more money, as am on Octopus agile. I wouldn’t recommend upgrading to 3015.
JMA If it's working fine I would leave alone based on my prior experiences

i'm running a gen2 hy5 with 1x 9.5 gen2. I updated to 3015 yesterday and so far so good. i was quite happy leaving it running 3013 but as soon as i see the update button i just have to press it. Since GE closed public access to the BETA testers thread we get left in the dark on these things.
Milrd001@gmail.com Oh no - that's exactly what I had with 2013. Indeed Li-Ion became Lead Acid and battery capacity became 6.4 instead of the real 9.5. It happened 3 times and everytime they had to send a tech out.
As I indicated in my original post, the problem only disappeared when they reverted firmware manually to 2012.
GIVENERGY : please fix this. You clearly knew about this problem (many emails and tickets from myself and from the installer, many times your tech logged in and had to come out....) and indicated it would be fixed with the new firmware. This proves it has not been fixed. If there's at least one customer that got this now again, then others got it at well.
At least inform all those NOT to upgrade.

At least I'm warned now NOT to change the firmware.
I did the upgrade yesterday. 9.5 battery, upgrade from 2013. It all went fine.

I have Gen 3 3.6Kw (GIV-HY3.6) inverter and 2x 5kwh batts and had the system go offline after an update........heard tech mention "Lead Acid"......not impressed with their testing or issue handling.....asked what route cause was and he say its a comms issue, probably from installers.....that was 5 months ago.....more like sloppy coding and testing? checked logs

im wating for a call back from someone more senior.....I also have a ticket about solar generation not kicking in unless inverter is rebooted due to sting 2 having low voltage....they swapped out the inverter to "fix" issue and its still happening.....not looking good for keeping this system!

The system default if it can't find/talk to a battery is Lead Acid @ 125AH (6.3kWH) which you see come up in your log.
Your AH rating for 2x 5.2 packs should be 204AH - which you do see briefly in your log before it appears to switch to 102AH again, suggesting it can't "auto read" the second pack (maybe the firmware is stuck on that one?)
There is a non user accessible setting called "Auto-Read Battery Type" which is a pain as it is that which is picking up "I can't see the batteries I'm supposed to so I assume its a lead-acid battery with no comms" and keeps putting you back to lead acid.
There is another called "Auto Read BMS" which tries to get the capacity (AH) from the battery(s) and updates the inverter/portal.
I'd imagine if they turn those both off & manually set them you'd have a fighting chance.

hoggy yeah, your observations make sense, I paid enough for this so call support and let them do it......maybe when they have 1000 of calls about poorly coded logic they might pull their finger out......maybe not 🙂
I had to reboot my inverter manually through the web interface to get the calibration to start. It has just completed ok.
For once, I had no issues! Started the upgrade around 23:30 and left it overnight to calibrate
AC3 + 9.5 battery, successfully updated 3013 to 3015/calibrated no issues last night. I waited until just before the cheaper EV rate kicks in. This meant the battery was almost empty and replenished on the cheaper rate. I run a small printshop from home and everything running perfectly on the cheap rate stored electric today so I give a big thank you and thumbs up to the givenergy software engineers 🙂

Did mine a couple of days ago with no issues. I’ll see how it behaves when it’s near empty. But it’s been sunny last couple of days so not got near empty.
Mine seemed to work ok apart from one of the batteries was not being used yesterday, but that appeared to be because the battery voltages were significantly different. As soon as the discharged battery started charging again, the voltages became closer and all of a sudden I had both batteries working. Sounds like a possible edge case, but a bit frustrating as I was hoping to export a load of power during yesterdays saving sessions!
I'm staying on 2013 for the time being. I regretted jumping to that version too soon after I had a random drop from 100% to 0% and had to turn the battery off and on again to get it to kick in. Fortunately it's only happened once, so 'better the devil you know'.
I've updated AV gear too soon in the past and ended up with problems, but at least it typically allows a 'roll back' to an earlier version without needing outside help. Useful if I then have problems and see other users with the same. These days I just wait to see what problems appear first and then update once I'm happy it's working OK (or at least better than the current version).
I didn't buy this system to be a beta tester, even if it's disguised as just being a regular user who did the update too soon...
Updated my single 9.5 last night and it seems to have been successful. One blip: after the update was successfully installed, the inverter (gen 1 hybrid) was idle and calibration did not start. I left it for 10mins, then tried restarting the inverter and pausing/unpausing the battery. Whether that helped, I don't know, but shortly afterwards the calibration ran normally.
Nerrad65 I'm on Octopus Agile, and with such high rates at the moment I'll be postponing my upgrade from 3009 until we have a price plunge event.
