Installer needs to "check" things?

Hello,

Had a battery charge/discharge fault earlier in Nov and raised a ticket, was told to get the installer to check the wiring, I questioned this as nothing had changed and GE sent an engineer out who replaced the inverter.

It's quickly re-appeared, called up again and they said to update the firmware, if it re-appears to get the installer out to check the wiring and voltages.

Is this actually a genuine thing to do or a some support nonsense to fob you off for a bit?

Reason is, now the firmware has updated, the battery is completely not charging/discharging so would like to know if i need to press GE, or get the installer out first?

Cheers,

When did you get the battery fitted?

All fitted in sep 2022, nothing changed and no issues until recently

Can't see how GE can keep referring you back to fitter if it was their engineer that last came out and replaced inverter, fitter Id of thought is off the hook so to speak from that point as how can they be accountable for something they didn't do.

DreadorUK The GE engineer was the last sparky to touch the system so he/his employers (GE) are now responsible for any wiring/installation issues.

They're fobbing you off because they don't have enough staff to deal with all the problems.

murrad The challenge here is that the support structure hasn't been followed. Customer > Installer > Giv. I would suggest that Giv. were perhaps trying to be (a bit too) helpful.
By skipping the installer you need to go back to the beginning. The installer will have direct access to Giv. when they are on site and hopefully they will get to the bottom of it without too much of a problem.

SilverArt Not sure on that part, installation was over 1 year ago, so unless installer gave warranty of over 1 year then that install element isn't covered now, even if GE hadn't gotten involved.

The workmanship warranty from my installer is 10 years so I'd have no problem in calling them. If they failed to respond that is a different matter, but at least I would have followed the support structure.
I must agree that it is a bit difficult due to the access we all have to Giv. but if we ask for their help we must follow their advice, it we don't then we take the matter out of their hands!
