GivTCP Local Control mode Setting?

Several settings have appeared with recent GivTCP updates which I'm struggling to work out, so I'm hoping someone can explain to me what they mean.

  1. GivTCP Local Control mode: Load, Battery or Grid
  2. GivTCP PV input mode: Independent or 1x2

I've looked online including the Github website for a list of new editions to GivTCP and descriptions of all the settings but found very little

  1. When I look at mine, its not selected - and is in an unknown state - probably for a different inverter than mine. But from memory its the leading control point.
  2. Usually leave as independent - unless both strings face the same way when there can be advantages to having them tied together. Its to do with the way MPPT works.

Graham_Harrison The same setting is on the portal as 'Export Power Priority', but I've no idea what it does - I have asked on here, and never got an answer.

I wonder if it is linked to the timed discharge/timed demand modes?

Usually these discharge at full pelt.

Maybe setting it to home demand makes it discharge to the house’s needs rather than full speed???

So, for my setup of 7 panels on one string, 8 panels on the second string, both on the same south facing roof, should I be setting PVInputMode to 1x2 ? What advantage would this have ?

Any light you can shed on this would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Lofthouse it’s supposed to lock the MPPT trackers together, thereby making them (slightly) more efficient rather than both of them hunting around each string.
The benefits of doing this are slightly unknown, I don’t think anyone’s really done much work on checking just how much of a difference it actually makes.

It might be worth trying it and see what happens. How you actually work out if it’s beneficial is a bit of a question

It may improve start up times in the morning - possibly?

Thanks for your thoughts on this - I will give it a go, although not a huge amount of solar around this week. I am trusting that the GivEnergy engineers had a reason for putting this in and it will all be fine 😳

I can't find this on the portal
