Hello,
I am a new customer of Givenergy and have had solar panels installed recently. I am confused - when my home consumption is more than what the solar panels are generating and my battery is only 5% charged, why is the system exporting to the Grid, instead of powering my home or charging my battery?

Go on the GivEnergy portal and what settings are you on.
Plenty of posts about this.
Set it to Eco and hit enable.
Timed charge, discharge etc all disabled until you get the hang and adjust to your tariff.

What you are seeing is just the way the system works, it is transient background 'noise' as the inverter works: a millisecond snapshot that will remain as a 'reading' for a period dependant on where you are looking it, through to a CT clamp is the wrong way round.
A description in what is installed plus a screen shot of the portal 'Power Graph' with 'Grid Export' highlighted may prove helpful.

Why is my system importing or exporting when it shouldn't be?
It takes time for the battery to ramp up and down to match its charge/discharge power to changes in generation and demand.
For example, if you switch on a high usage device such a kettle, or you start to generate more solar power because the sun comes out from behind some clouds, the battery will need a few seconds to provide to take this power. Because of this, small spikes of import and export may be visible on the graphs, but over time these values do not equate to much energy.
