Battery discharge to grid

I want to hold my charge until peak time and then use for home energy but despite setting home demand on my schedule my battery has discharged to the grid. How can I stop this happening??

I found the pause button in the app no longers works for me since a firmware upgrade but there is a pause option in the portal that does work.

Nigewhit What version of the hardware do you have? The solution probably depends on that plus the firmware version you are running. It would be helpful to know which tariff you are on - makes it easier to infer what it is you wish to achieve.

For example, on a gen-3 hybrid inverter, setting discharge mode to 'scheduled' + 'home demand' rather counter-intuitively seems to mean

• remain in eco mode outside of the time period (discharging to cover house load)
• during the time window, discharge the battery at full power, so that it exports to the grid.

On other inverters, that combination may behave differently.

I am on agile octopus.
I want to save my battery charge for peak times rather than it being used in the anytime when prices are lower then boing empty come peak time.

I am trying to set discharge time manually on the mobile app and have set to home use only but it still discharges to grid.

My inverter is on this software

App doesn't give access to all the config settings - the "remote control" section on the web portal has more settings.

One of those is pausing the battery - eg setting pause to "discharge only" from 00:00 to 17:00 might achieve what you want. (It will then continue discharging into the evening, but maybe that's okay.)

Nigewhit That's correct. (But scheduled discharge doesn't work the way you want it to anyway.)
The 'pause' setting should take precendence over the dynamic discharge setting: within the pause time window, or during any charging times you have configured (caveats apply), discharge is inhibited, so it only gets to discharge when the other timers allow it.

Nigewhit Simplest way to do exactly what you have asked for, as long as you can fully charge your battery in the cheap rate period:
ECO Enabled
In 'Timed Charge'
Set your Cheap Rate Start time in 'Timed Charge'
Set your Cheap Rate Stop time to the time your want to start using the power in the battery.

I think I have got what I wanted by going online and adjusting settings there. There. Is am option for timed discharge to grid which is not available on the mobile app with this turned off I can do timed discharge to property.

'Timed export' on the portal is equivalent to the app's scheduled discharge with type of 'full export' rather than 'home demand'. 'Timed discharge' on the portal is equivalent to scheduled discharge in 'home demand' mode. I'm also on 305 firmware, and I don't think this is what you want - it discharges at a fixed rate, with anything the house doesn't use going to the grid. The difference is whether it discharges to cover house load during the day, outside of the time period.

I may be wrong, but I think what you want is

• battery idle for most of the day (though charging from any solar generation, if it has space)
• battery discharges only enough to cover house load at peak times - 4pm to 7pm, perhaps ?

That is what I am after.
