This is something I recently discovered on my G1 via the "Inverter" app on Android - tap "Solar" and it'll tell you the start-up voltage.
Mine was set to 150V (default value apparently) and given we have two short strings I wondered if it was related to some poor tracking I'd seen.
I emailed support and they set to it 120V.
Result is that on a clear day like today I'm getting pretty much perfect tracking on both strings - by that I mean its nearly exactly the maximum power voltage on each string & exactly the same current output from both.
The shorter string (4 panels) always seemed a bit low in terms of power - voltage always seemed a bit high. Looks better now 🙂
If you have a G1 hybrid and a small PV array/short string then it might be worth a look to see what the startup voltage is.
