GE EV Charger and Tesla

Hi folks

Looks like I might be able to do a lease through work for a model 3 or Y, but would prefer to get the GE charger than the Tesla wall charger (mainly so I can redirect excess solar to it which their wall charger doesn't support unless you have powerwall)

I'm new to EV charging plugs and compatibility, are they all the same and will "just work", or does the GE kit only support certain types of EV? Couldn't really see any info about this on the website so assuming it's one size fits all? Any other limitations?

They will just work - it's a standard Type 2 EV connector.

As for choosing a charger specifically to harvest your PV generation, consider carefully if this is worth the trouble: if you're already getting paid for export, the marginal saving over (for example) Intelligent Octopus Go tends to be small and EV consumption will dwarf your excess generation for much of the year.

Will it work with the standard mobile charger from Tesla though? Or do you need a compatible wall charger? Their page just links to a statement that you need a compatible one, but not an actual list of compatible ones, other than a Tesla logo...

pacemaker it works with a limited number of chargers, but also with certain cars directly (including Tesla). Either the car or charger needs to be compatible.

pacemaker yes it works with the Tesla granny charger.

It’s the only charger I currently have.
