Battery charge and Discharge times

I have programmed my battery to discharge to home from 17.00 to 21.00 but ir persists in discharging from 6.30 am the charging times overnight seem to work ok. has anyone else had this problem please?

I'd recommend using the search feature and having a read of other people's experiences and workarounds. Look for timed discharge or similar words.

Searching for flux might help too - not sure if that is your tariff, but people have similar needs on that tariff.

Jane I assume by "programmed" you mean used the built-in features of the app, rather than using an external agent like home assistant ?
The discharge timer doesn't always behave the way you might expect. On my gen-3 hybrid inverter, 'scheduled discharge' with mode of 'home demand' actually means cover home demand outside of the timer window, and discharge at a fixed rate inside the timed window.

Are you trying to set things up so that it charges from the grid overnight until 6:30 am, but then holds the charge until peak-time at 17:00, when it should cover home demand ?

Basically work out how much you need to cover between 17:00 to 21:00 for approx 40% of the time then step back from that how much you use before it and make it so battery is in charge state till that point.

Lots of assumptions as you don't explain battery, tariff etc

So you use 5 Kwh as a high average between those times and between 6:30 and 17:00 you use .5 kWh so total of 10.5 and battery is say 9 kWh and back to .5 kWh - in this example you would keep battery in charging state past 6:30 and put it to cease charging at 12 that way you would have 5 hours at 2.5 kwh your 5 kWh in the main expensive section and finally remaining 1.5 kwh for late night - that 1.5 gives you an additional buffer if you do go over 5 kwh.

Bottom line there is no crystal ball to work out what your going to use so it has be a best case analysis so the more variable your usage the harder it gets, and thats before solar if you have it comes into it.
