Tariff / EV Charger advice please

So currently with EDF (4.5p overnight, 38p rest of day, 39p Standing charge coming to an end

I dont have a charger currently and car isnt on the allowed list.

However, Intelligent Octopus Go rates: (7.5p, 29.58p, SC 55.39p)

As I understand it, moving would allow me to access the 15p export rate (Im currently on their 4.1p rate)

So the question is, is it worth buying a Zappi (and Harvi) for £1300 to access that new tariff?

I have a Gen 1 Hybrid 3.6, and approx 15kWh of batteries (9.5 and 5.2)

shawry depends on your usage. You can also pick up a new Ohme epod for about £400.

shawry I thought there was a 10p or similar rate fur export if on Go. Not quite as good as the one you can get with IO, but not bad.

TX200 yes, Go is currently 9p import for 4 hours, 8p export. (Probably can't fully charge 15kWh battery with gen-1 in 4 hours, but it might be sufficient as the sunlight improves.)

There's also eon next-drive, which is something like 9.5p for about 7 hours overnight, and 16p export ? (I'm not with Eon.)

(I've finally taken the plunge and ordered a zappi. Payback is marginal, but it's about time I got a proper chargepoint installed, though zappi isn't the cheapest way to get access to IOG, nor the best-looking model available.)

TX200 The rate is more expensive though, and only for 4 hours, staying with EDF the rate is a little cheaper, and 5 hours rather than 4.

The money I would save due to my usage eats up most/if not all of the revenue for exporting.

Last year I used approx 650kWh on day rate, 5059 kWh night rate but that included usage from before larger battery was fitted.

Based on that usage, total costs, including exports (though I expect more overnight usage, and greater exports due to larger battery now)

So on face value, bearing in mind cost of charger, its probably ideal to move to Go, though my next car is almost guaranteed to be a full EV, so I will need a charger, so I am happy enough to ignore the cost of the charger really.

Im not sure on the Ohme charger, Ive heard of nightmares getting it installed, so was looking at the Zappi, however Octopus state 4 months minimum wait, so looked at Zappi, but they auto added a Harvi due to Solar, and thats what started confusing me!

Do I need a Harvi? what does it do?

You do not necessarily need to have a Harvi fitted as well as the Zappi. If the only Myenergi device you will have is the Zappi you won't unless it is going to be too difficult to hardwire a CT clamp for the grid measurement. If you have a solar installation you can also put a CT Clamp on the solar inverter AC output that helps it know when you have surpless energy.

All the Harvi does is be a central hub for the CT clamps that multiple Myenergi devices can connect to wirelessly. Also, it could act as a wifi hub if the Zappi is difficult to directly wire to a Zappi location.

The latest Zappi's have built-in wifi and can Act as a wireless hub themselves so even if you have more than one Myenergi device you do not necessarily need a Harvi. I have a Zappi and Eddi and there are CT clamps wired to the Zappi but the Eddi gets its grid detection/measurement from the Zappi via the built-in wireless hub facility and I have no Harvi.

DD I can charge my current battery setup in my current 5 hour window, I think I may get the Zappi as I will need a charger for the next car, which will hopefully be my Xmas present to myself at the end of the year 🙂
