Hi all.

I've got a question. So, I am in an electric-only house. I generate all my hot water throgh immersion heaters. As a result, it made sense to have an Eddi installed when I got my PV array (Still waiting for the batteries, grrrrrr - were supposed to be delivered on the 1st Feb, then 1st March, then 1st April. If I get them this year, I'll count myself lucky).
so, when I look at the Givenergy App, it shows that, off-peak, my import from the grid is around 800w from about 1am until 3 am. This is fine. This is heating up my hot water using off peak. If I look at the Myenergi app, it shows that I am importing about 1KW.
Ok, there is a disparity but I'm not worried about that.
What I find odd is that I am ONLY importing 800w when I would expect to draw 3kW. When I look at the energy usage on the myenergi app, it correctly shows that the Eddi is showing a supply of 3kW.

Can anyone shed some light on what is going on?

I'm trying to work out how much I am using and how much I am saving using the Eddi but I cannot make the numbers work. When I look at my usage during the day, it makes sense as the eddi is supplying what the solar array can generate meaning that I'm exporting very little. When I get my batteries (grrr), I hope this to be zero.

Cheers

Scott

ScottLinfoot I don't know the answer but I think it'd help to differentiate between the power/load and energy consumed. A power level of 800/1000W for the period 1am to 3am would equate to 1.8-2kWh (aka units). Not having an Eddi myself, I don't know if you can set a maximum power level (say 1kW) even though the immersion heater itself is 3kW.

I have the myEnergi app but no Eddi, so does the supply of 3kW show up in the history and is it the height of the histograph (kW) or the total diverted in the day (kWh)?
