EV compatability

New charger fitted

Charges my installer's Nissan EV. Doesn't charge my Volvo XC40 PHEV.

(Volvo charges fine on 3 pin: car knows it is plugged in, charger knows the car is plugged in, won't charge...)

I'd assume that there's a specification that both car manufacturer and charger manufacturer have to meet to ensure that all chargers can talk to all cars...

GivEnergy seem to require a lot of customers testing their products:

• AIO v7 firmware was undercharging - took a few weeks for GE to admit it was faulty and to roll me back to v6
• mid Dec my AIO failed at 3am. Weeks again for GE to admit there was an issue - still waiting on an engineer visit (costing me _£3 a day in missed use of Eco7 rate)
• now the car charger

Coming to the conclusion that their products are - at best - not thoroughly enough developed. At worse, they are a bit rubbish

This might be related to the EV Chargers servers at GE have had to be completely rebuilt overnight after some sort of mystery failure.
I'd turn the charger off at it's MCB, wait half an hour then turn it back on to see if it reconnects properly.

It's sounding like (from others experience) that the charger needs to talk to the cloud or it just sits there not really doing anything.

To note: i do not have the GE charger personally.

hoggy someone on the Ohme page recently expressed concern that the Ohme charger just gets on with it if its unable to connect to the server, rather than waiting for permission to start charging. If the issue here is the converse case, I know which approach I prefer.
