Inverter behaviour post-GivBack event

Hello,
There was a GivBack event yesterday. All good. However this morning after charging up the battery to 100%, the inverter is no longer discharging to offset grid usage.

I'm not sure what settings I should check to make sure things will revert to normal.

Could anyone offer a suggestion on this, please?

SKEXIS reset everything to default settings & submit, then make sure eco mode is on (submit) before adding your timed charge back on.

This sounds like the thing the 'eco' flag would control. On the app, it would be a discharge of 'dynamic'. If it is showing correctly, it might be helpful to turn it off, then on again. (Or on the app, set to scheduled, save the change, then back to dynamic and save again.)

Yep, and cycled the battery.

I was on the octopus agile solar+battery automation, and I've had predbat running in monitor mode for the last week or so.

I've just turned off the givenergy automation and turned on predbat, so when the peak rates finish, hopefully that'll kick it into life.

Ekulnitsua Not charging from the grid, or not charging from solar ? Probably a symptom of the settings not being restored as they were, but probably a different register in this case.

Perhaps the max charging rate register in this case ? Or depending on the model, it could be the 'pause' setting which is available on the portal remote-control section for some models of inverter.

Hmm - probably a bad idea to have lots of different external agents all independently attempting to control your system. Maybe switch from GivBack to the Octoplus OctoPlus scheme - doesn't give you the automation that GivBack gives you, but I believe predbat can also do everything needed for savings sessions.

Because predbat operates on the inverter locally, the settings the app or portal shows may be stale - I think it shows the settings it last sent, rather than actually reading live registers from the inverter. (Though you can force the remote-control section to re-read registers to make sure they have the correct value.)

Yep agreed - though predbat wasn't running when the fault occurred, it was in read only as I was preparing to switch over.

I was dubious about handing control over to axle, and this rather confirms it. As suggested I've switched over to octopus for the saving sessions, and I'll get onto givenergy if the restart/recycle/reset stuff hasn't reversed whatever they didn't return to normal.

Ekulnitsua if you go to the Remote Control settings on the Giv portal for your inverter, you can “read” each setting and sometimes you might find the error there. For example, your battery charge time might have changed or something else but it’s still showing fine on the app (if that makes sense?)

A real life example I’ve seen is Eco showed as enabled on the battery settings but when I “read” Eco mode on the remote control settings it was actually disabled, so I enabled it and voila.

Everything looks fine - though I've noticed the second green light is flashing on the battery - which indicates it's "waiting" for something, according to the faq.

Does it need recalibration?

I've had the same problems and GivEnergy support has told me I need to recalibrate my battery. Before it gets too cold. I've asked them to do it but no response.

So, got to the bottom of this one:

If Battery Temp <= 0 then No Charge

Now, this hasn't been a problem (even up here in Scotland at fairly consistently low temps for a week or so), UNTIL the givback event - my theory?

The forced discharge down to minimum generated a bunch of heat, but then, the normal automations were not turned back on until much later, meaning that heat had dissipated, and with only a small reserve left, there wasn't enough discharge to generate heat to bring the unit back above zero.

Perhaps a potential solution would be for axle energy's automation to ensure a charge immediately after the event - even to 25%, when rates were lower, to stop the cycle getting stuck.

Is there anyone from axle on here, or does anyone have more thoughts to feedback?
