GE battery charge settings changing automatically

I’ve just set things up with Octopus Flux, plan is for winter -charge battery 2-5am and discharge 4-7pm. I use about 50-70kWh/ day as i have an Everhot cooker and air source not hooked up yet (so a few elec heaters temporary..) No matter what I do, the settings change automatically! I want Eco-off (otherwise it starts to discharge straight after charging) timed discharge on, and timed export off. Yesterday, despite using above settings, it exported at 4kW (even though limit is set to 3.6kW) until battery was flat (_6pm) and I had to pay peak rate for 1hr…
Is this some kind of software glitch or is there a way to edit the settings that does not get over-ridden?

That's exactly the behaviour I'd expect from my system with those settings. Perhaps "timed discharge" has a behaviour different from what you expect - on some systems, it always dumps battery at fixed rate. (it unfortunately doesn't seem to be documented.)
Assuming you want to cover house load between 4pm and 7pm, one config you could try is charge window all the way up to 4pm (which will just have the effect of maintaining charge level), and leave eco mode on. No scheduled discharge.

No glitch, just confusing terminology. As DD said you want:
Eco ON
Timed charge 02:00 to 16:00
Timed discharge/export OFF

For high usage, Cosy may work out cheaper than Flux.

Ok -thanks for that! So there’s no difference between discharge and export then?
I think I’ll try charge 2am-4pm and eco on, and maybe if I have some spare kWh I might be able to discharge 6-7pm.
With the Cosy tariff I could not see if it paid on any export, and as I have solar panels I think it might work out better on Flux..

So Cosy has access to 15p fixed outgoing. You don't have to stick on one tariff for the whole year: can choose Cosy for winter and Flux for summer. (With your level of consumption, I'd be impressed if you have solar to spare for export !)

I've just changed the settings last night on my phone, I've logged in now, and ECO was disabled; and timed discharge 6-7pm was also disabled... Why is this happening??! Should I get in touch with GE?

TYC Have a look at the activity log on the portal: in the inverter section, go to the remote-control section (gears icon in top right). Then at the bottom of the page, there should be a log of commands sent from the cloud to the inverter (which also includes changes made by the app).

It doesn't include anything that is set directly on the inverter, such as with Home Assistant.

If you have any smart tariff features enabled via the app, I don't know whether those would be included, since I've never used those.

On my gen-3 hybrid, both enable a timed output from the battery. The difference is that 'timed discharge' leaves eco mode on for the rest of the time, whereas 'timed export' leaves eco mode off for the rest of the time. ie the difference in name is entirely down to whether eco mode is on or off.
But other models/firmware may do things differently.

This configuration will basically run eco mode from 4pm onwards. So it will continue covering house load until battery runs out or start of the next charging session.

You could choose to enable a timed discharge at 6pm, and then if there is spare battery, it will dump it at a higher rate. (This is presumably for the the flux premium rate.) However, perhaps worth pointing out that (in my area, at least), the export price during peak rate more or less matches import cost in the evening, so anything you earn from exporting before 7pm will be offset by having to reimport some of it later on.

Ok, I'll keep an eye on it. Changing on my laptop may be more reliable than on my phone.
I see what you mean with the export rate. What i need is a larger battery, or use my EV when Polestar works with Octopus..
It can be quite addictive though, I'm checking the dashboard all the time now!
