Is there a stortage of batteries in the UK this spring from GivEnergy?
Battery Stortage in UK
Oatmeal2 My install with Eon has been waiting since Nov but from what they have told me it sounds as if GE are ending their 8.2kWh manufacture (for a new 9.5) as well as a shortage of parts to make them but a ‘ship’ full of 8.2’s are on their way to the UK to fullfill existing orders.
GE are also aparently moving manufacture of the batteries to the UK, i guess covid delayed plans and then the chip shortage happened
Just spoke to my installer and they are now claiming the 8.2KWh batteries are expected at the end of this month/early may. For reference we had our PV and hybrid inverter installed at the end of January
Thank you for your replies, was worried my installer was giving me the runaround.
I ordered from eon at the end of November. There was a wait for getting the grid approval, then installation was due sometime mid to late Feb. I was told in Feb that they were waiting on batteries from China, and installation would hopefully be by the end of March. Installation happened on the 11th/12th of April.
I am going to contact EON. Will be interesting to see how soon they might be able to offer me a pair of 8.2 kWh batteries.
I ordered in December and was due a 2x Inverter and 2x battery install in March, then May, now told by installers they are not getting the GE products they expected. They have to reserve Gen2 kit coming in August.... very annoying.
Batteries are available at Sparkies at the moment. Old style 8.2
