Help...
EVC set to "Solar Only" and has happily consumed all my excess today (thank you sun).
Now the solar generation has dropped from around 5Kw to 500w... but the EVC is still pushing 1.6Kw to the car... and drawing the excess from the grid!
I assumed once the excess from the solar reduced below the 6A threshold that the charging would stop.
Can someone confirm if I am missing something?
Thanks
Mark
EV charger on solar only draws from grid
Mark_LaPensee Don't know about the GE chargepoint, but Zappi has a parameter which is a time delay before it stops charging. The idea is that if it's just a brief dip in solar, it's better to briefly cover it from the grid than to stop the charge, opening contacters, etc.
thanks - will have to have a look
Spoke to Customer support and might have worked out the problem.
Will test to verify however I now understand that whenever you switch between Solar or Hybrid or Grid in the app or portal you MUST reboot the EVC for the changes to take affect.
Can’t find this documented anywhere and all seems rather 1990s but will give it a go and see if that fixes some of the weird behaviour.
Mark_LaPensee when you say reboot, do you mean hard reset at the breaker or will a software restart command from the cloud do it?
Andy510 I assume they meant “send the reboot request from the app”… not a breaker reset.
I have tried the software reset but now have to wait for the sun to come back out to test it.
Did you ever get anywhere with this ? I am having issues as well. I have emailed support so I will feedback what they say
I'm having the same issue
I'm having issues with this too and GivEnergy support seem unable to resolve it. Getting very tired of this charger - it just does not work properly. Mine won't charge on solar only and delivers only 3.5 kWh overnight unless I wake up in the middle of the night and restart it.
