We noted our inverter went offline while away from home on 14th Feb. On returning home today I went out and logged onto the inverter via the 10.10.100.254 IP address, followed the steps and rebooted. We have a LORA not a WiFi dongle but most of steps are same to reboot - which is initially successful.
The inverter connects back up but only lasts for 10-20 minutes before dropping offline again, This hasn’t happened before - anyone any ideas or experiences similar!

Get a Wifi analyser app for your phone - can help to find Wifi faults. I've got two inverters about 1m apart. The one nearest to the router is about -10dBm down compared to the other. I also get the odd drop-out lasting for a few seconds. Tried talking to my 'installer' - no response.
I suspect that quite a few systems have 'drop-out' problems. Anyone know of a range extender that works?

If you login to the inverter wifi (instructions on the givenergy kb site) and run the ‘scan for SSID’s’ it’ll tell you what signal strength the inverter is actually seeing.
My inverters couldn’t reliably “see” my home wifi router despite it being only 1 floor up and about 7m horizontally. I had my inverters commissioned to a powerline repeater that was in our lounge on the other side of the garage wall.
Worked quite reliably except about once a month or so the powerline would disconnect and you’d have to unplug and plug it back in again.
Personally having used powerline range extenders I wouldn’t recommend them. They are susceptible to electronic noise on the ring main. Things like USB power adapters can kill the signal, I had real trouble with some mains sockets with USB adapters in them, ended up taking them out in the end. And they can drop out for no reason at all.
In the end we bought a Mercusys AX3000 Mesh wifi 3 node system and then a couple of extra nodes, one of which is in the garage. These give us the same wifi SSID all round the house and works well. Not had any issues with dropouts. Only problem is that the givenergy wifi dongles DO NOT like 5GHz signals on the same SSID as 2.4GHz. They only work on 2.4GhZ,. You have to turn off the 5GHz, let the inverter connect, and once connected you can turn the 5GHz on and leave it connected. Perfect then

That's probably specific to your mesh system. There's absolutely no problem with 2.4GHz & 5GHz sharing the same SSID in my experience.
Agree with you on powerline, also worth pointing out that they spew wideband noise all over your mains wiring and if you're on VDSL2 (FTTC) this can and does adversely affect sync speeds in many cases.

Agree there’s no issue with the two wifis coexisting with the same SSID, the issue is that the GivEnergy wifi dongle tries to connect on 2.4, the mesh offers it the 5GHz (in preference) which it can’t accept, and the GE dongle then doesn’t connect. Its all to do with newer wifi standards not being supported on old devices as I understand it - you see some of the Tuya wifi devices on aliexpress etc that say “2.4GHz only” for the same reasons.
There’s other forum posts on this issue with the GE inverters. The solution as I said is temporarily turn off the 5GHz for the initial connection and then it’s fine after that.

That's your problem and your "mesh" shouldn't be doing that. Clients decide the band, not the AP.
For reliable roaming/band selection the 5GHz transmission signal should be 3-6dBm higher than 2.4GHz (which should NEVER be set to full power). You can try k/r/v settings but there's few clients which support that PROPERLY (samsung for example don't have a clue).

I reset the dongle and then spent hours trying to re-connect. Finally made it with updated password etc. If I try and talk to it via 192.168.1.xx I can't login. Same with the other inverter ...
