GivTCP ActivePower?

Hi all,

I've recently setup Home Assistant and I think yesterday accidentally set the GivTCP Control 'Active Power' value down to a lower value in the Home Assistant companion app on my phone - and I think this then limits the battery discharge rate. Looking at the history for this entity it seems it was 60% previously. Does anyone know exactly what this entity is and what it should be set to?

I have a 9.5kWh battery and A/C couple inverter (so max charge/discharge of 3000W)

jHart2 mine has been set at 100% since I installed GivTCP 2 weeks ago FWIW. Predbat is controlling my battery charging so it seems it doesn't touch that entity.

Sorry I don't know what it does.

My Gen1 5.0HY and 9.5 battery is set at just over 2kw. Someone posted about this for longer battery life

Active power is the inverter as a whole. A bit pointless if you have AC coupled as it is the same as limiting battery rates.
Only really applies for Hybrids as it caps the solar and battery to whatever you set it to. So a hybrid 5 can be held back to 3kW or whatever from a mixture of battery and PV.
I use it to soft shutdown my inverter rather than using PV isolator under full load. Set to 0 and the inverter goes completely idle in full sun.

Thanks for the quick replies all, I think it is working 'normally' now that is back to 60%, I will check when home I can discharge up to 3000W (I'll put the kettle on!).

I think I'll disable that entry on the Home Assistant so I don't accidentally tweak it again!

SteveCook - I have my overnight charge at around 1700W I think so that if the battery is almost empty it will be full a bit before the end of cheap overnight electric, that way it keeps the battery warm on cold nights!

I've just started looking into using HA automation to reduce the max discharge power when the discharge time remaining drops below a certain number of minutes, as I've seen it get to under 10% and then drop very quickly under a sudden high load. Will be interesting to see if that works 🙂
