My system is showing a BMS Communication Fail and in the app and logging on it shows the entire 6kw being produced is also being used in my home, it also shows that the battery is at 0%, this was at 100% at 11am today. I know that I won't be using more than 400W as I have gone around to check that non essentials are switched off, I have also switched off all of the breakers other than the solar system so was down to consuming 0W but the system still said we were using 6kw. How do I get the system to work?
BMS Communication Fail
Craggs BMS comms fail is a failure for the inverter to communicate with the battery management system. This is why you’re not getting any battery % info
It could be just a transient error that clears itself, or try turning it all off and back on again to see if it clears it.
Otherwise need to call givenergy support on Monday
Could just be a loose cable. Have a look under the inverter and see if anything needs pushing in a bit - looking for a data type cable rather than AC or DC cables, which hopefully are fairly obvious to help work out which one is the right one. It'll also follow the path of the DC cable to the battery, possibly entering the same conduit depending on how it was installed.
Gen Hy5.0 and 9.5 bat.
Mine had the cables plugged into the wrong ports. I took the plastic cover off, 2 screws. Shut everything down and plugged comms cables into correct ports, turned back on and all fine. I think it did a calibration.
There is a post somewhere with a drawing of the plugs/ports.
Difficult to get head around as you may be looking up from underneath
SteveCook the diagrams of the ports are in the installation guides in the GivEnergy kb website
TX200 Agree, could be a loose cable. On the gen 1 inverters the battery data cable just pushes into the socket in the bottom of the inverter, mine came loose one time and lost battery comms. The newer inverters they clip in so less likely to be an issue
My supplier has been in touch with GivEnergy and apprantly there was a fault in the inverter replacement is on it's way.
