Hey Guys

Just had a notification pop up yesterday on my inverter saying BMS Overvoltage, doesn't explain what it is or the significance of it, only lasted 5 minutes before it cleared.

What does this mean and is it something that pops up from time to time? Never had it pop up before.

I've been getting this BMS overvoltage notification recently too, often accompanied by a red light on the battery status indicator. I've emailed Givenergy support, but have had no response as yet.

Guzz OK cool. If you get a reply let me know. I only had it the once thankfully

It means the voltage reported by BMS of your battery is above the allowed threshold, charging will cease to protect the battery. Its around 58v if I remember right. A fully charged battery will peak at 55.5-56V. Look at your charging voltages, over a 24 hr period, you will see it slowly rise as the battery charges. Then it will begin to rise more suddenly around 54.5v, this is the im full point.

The upper and lower battery voltage alarm figures were changed in a battery firmware update last year:

"BMS(3002) 15/10/2021

1: the overall low voltage alarm is changed from 41.6V to 45V, and the overall high voltage alarm is changed from 58.4V to 57.5V
2: The battery balancing function is enabled "

This is the response
"Nothing to worry about they are working OK. I believe this is just an issue and notifications popping up relating to the % indifference sometimes caused with dual batteries as a display error."

I had this for the first time today, It was cleared at the next stats period. It appears to be associated with the battery reaching 100% (Single 8.2kWh battery) As the stats period is 5 minutes, we get no indication of when within the preiod this conditon occured and for how long it remained active. I think it would be good to have an explanation for such notifications within the portal giving the conditions which cause the notification to be raised and cleared. In addition maybe a severity category for notifications.

Is this the same as “ backup overload fault”? Just had a single notification of the inverter page of the report, again lasted for a single 5min block.
