power the house then timed discharge

Hi All, I'm new to this so apologies in advance. I've set my battery to charge at night on the cheap EV tariff, then feed the house during the day, but how do I set it to discharge back in to the grid in the evening?

Thank you!

Lisa3 Hi, welcome to the forum.

It seems to vary between systems, though I've not actually seen details of how it behaves on other systems. It's very simple on my hybrid-G3. Unfortunately, the nomenclature seems to be different on app and the web portal. (I think the app is easier to understand.)

On the app, set discharge mode to 'scheduled' and 'consumption type' to 'home demand'. Then set the discharge start and end times, and that's about it. It will run in eco mode outside the time interval, and discharge at fixed time during the window.

On the portal, you want to choose 'timed discharge' (not 'timed export'). The description makes it sound like it will only cover house consumption during the timed window, and may indeed be what it does on other systems, but on my system it discharges at fixed power.

What I've heard is that on other systems, it doesn't reliably go back to eco mode either before or after. (On my system, consumption type of 'full export' turns off the eco flag, but 'home demand' leaves it on.

Let us know how you get on.

(I go one step further, and run a python script at 8pm which looks at how much is remaining in the battery, and chooses as low a discharge power as possible which will still drain the battery in time. I think this is kinder to the battery than discharging at full power. But you don't need anything like this in the first instance.)

Hey. Easiest way to do it is via the settings within the portal through a browser. Login, click on my inverter, click settings, you will then see timed export, then you can setup a time to export and how much. when you are done and have clicked submit, make sure the eco setting is turned on. When I setup timed export, it turned eco mode off and then the battery wouldn't discharge to the house.

Did you try timed discharge, rather than timed export? For me, the former leaves the eco flag on, the latter turns it off. (That's pretty much the only difference.)

Note also that not only does turning eco mode off prevent the battery discharging to the house, it also stops the battery charging from solar. (Again, maybe only on some systems ?)
