Ive just had my system set up. Its great to see the automated visual showing the drawing from the grid, the power to the home and the power form the solar. My battery is operating for the first time and is calling on the grid at this stage to charge.
Once that is charged, will I see the draw from the grid animation stop and just show my consumption from my charged battery or does it reverse?
Make sure eco or dynamic mode in app is on - that'll charge with solar and discharge instead of using grid.
Then enable a timed charge if you have a cheap rate overnight. Set it for the entire period and the battery will charge and the house will use the grid whilst prices are cheap. That saves the battery for when peak rate starts.
You can also set a charge to* percentage if you want to leave room for solar on sunny days.
( * It'll charge to that percentage or discharge to that percentage - aiming to be at that percentage at the end of the timed charge).

RJD If you're using the view on the cloud dashboard, bear in mind that it only updates the data every 5 minutes or so. And you're unlikely to ever see the grid usage as exactly 0 - it's always importing or exporting a few watts, since the inverter has to react to changes in the house load as devices turn on and off - it takes a few moments for it to detect changes and adjust the battery discharge rate.
if a data snapshot happens just as you turn on the kettle, it may show quite a large grid import, and that will appear to stay for 5 minutes - that's just a feature of the sampling. (The app connects directly to the inverter, and so can update at a much faster rate.) It's the same on the power and energy graphs.

RJD Eco mode should be the default - if the battery is discharging to the house, without excessive grid import or export, it will be fine.

BTW the description of "timed discharge" is completely wrong for at least some models of inverter. And selecting "timed export" turns off eco mode as a side effect, but it doesn't always update the portal page, which can be very confusing.
RJD On the desktop dashboard app go to the inverter screen and there is a "settings" option. in that, you will see a list of options such as "Eco", Timed Charge, Timed Discharge, etc. It will be good to make sure the Eco option is enabled. You should see it coloured in green if it is enabled.
